Does anyone know of a guide or picture on how to replace this ones turntable belt.
http://www.cedmagic.com/tech-info/belt-replacement-guide/vp100-chassis.html
Used For:
- All Toshiba
- Elmo VEC- 200
- Wards GEN10301
I can see and have access to servo and if I take bottom off I have access to loading belt. I just don't know how to open this thing up without hurting it to replace turntable belt.
Anyone know ? It powers on takes the disc and doesn't do anything after that, light says side 1 and the red standby light blinks.
I can see all 3 belts need to be replaced. I just don't here anything like on rca's, the function motor still spins and you hear a hum, am I supposed to hear anything like that on the toshiba/wards?
I did find this which if I can I will do!

Another problem is that I can see that the old turntable belt has kind of gone under the turntable. So I'd like to know how to take turntable off/out if anyone knows how to do that or can find a guide or pics that'd be greatly appreciated! _________________ I dont own

I have repaired over ten of these players and it is not that difficult. Just follow the instructions from this link from CED Magic.

I remove the disc support that is next to the pully and find it easier to get the belt on and off. Make sure you go with the round belt option with the new pully. |

I just got done with a "tear down" of a Wards player I found stashed away behind all the RCA machines Dad had. It was inside a dusty box mislabelled that I thought was old TV tubes he had. Darn player was in almost perfect condition on the surface.
But it turned out all 3 belts were bad, so I used the guide here at CEDmagic to take it apart and replace all but the drive belt. My old drive belt was stuck under the turntable too, and I just gently pulled on it while spinning the table to get it out.
I have one of the skinny belts but, true to form, it just slips right off the top of the drive pulley on startup, thanks to that goofy convex-styled drive pulley! If it were concave or had a lip, then we'd be up and going. So now I'm figuring on taking out and redesigning the pulley to use the skinny belt, and if that fails, going to the round belt pulley option.
Follow the CEDmagic instructions and you will not have a problem getting to it without taking off the turntable. The one thing I did differently that seemed to give me more room was to also disconnect the LED display board (PW2694-2) and rotate the system control board in the opposite direction and also remove the crossmember above the turntable.
This seemed to give me more room in putting the new belt on and I still could get to the pulley, and didn't need to remove the disc support at all. Seeing as how the old plastic pulley would need replaced anyway, I figure it won't hurt to see if I can do something to it to make it accept the skinny belt without slipping off first.
Putting the player back together was a cinch afterwards. |

I still have several of thoses pullys that I machined to accept the round belt. I made a lathe tool that cuts a 1/8 wide groove into the old pully. As I recall the grooved metal pully and reducer sleeve that you would normally have to buy was over $25.00. My grooved pullys work just as good if not better. I would be glad to send you a pully and round belt, just leave your email address so I can give you my mailing address. I will also need your old pully in exchange. |

Okay, that sounds like a deal. I was planning something along those lines but I don't have a lathe. I was going to fix the pully onto a motor that was bolted down and see if I could make it concave by sanding it, or at least create a lip. But your plan is better. My email is:

And what do you charge for this? Or if you don't charge, maybe I have something I can send you in parts as I am parting out a whole bunch of RCA players right now. Again, thanks! |

Is it still possible to get in on this too? Problem is the place it tells you to buy them is sold out of all the parts needed _________________ I dont own

Thanks to Cbertra2. the Wards player is up and running and works perfectly.
I got the belt and grooved pulley today, took about an hour to get it put on, and the player works like a champ! Great picture and great looking player too, sorry RCA.
I actually thought it would work well, after all it was cosmetically flawless, indicating well taken care of. Only the 3 belts needed replacing and even the stylus was still good.
And imagine it's just the original pulley with a groove lathed into it to accept the round belt. I can't recommend this type of grooved pulley any higher! |
