|
|
Since almost all TV shows are being released on DVD these days, I don't watch any shows regularly. I do have a favorite though, I will start watching it when it comes back on in the Fall, and that show is Criminal Minds. I just love the way they profile the "unsubs". I used to NEVER miss CSI & CSI Miami, and Cold Case, and then Criminal Minds. When Mandy Pantkin left the show, I stopped watching it, but recently we have been watching it on A & E, and I realized how good the show still is. The guy who replaced him is good. This past year we watched V and loved it. It had a great cliffhanger, but unfortunately, it was cancelled. I guess the lizards will take over the planet after all.
Anyway I said that to say this. What is your favorite T.V. show that is currently? Like I said, mine is Criminal Minds. _________________ 1000 titles

I quit watching TV when the networks started keeping their logos onscreen all the time. I simply can't enjoy a show this way, and find it disgraceful that the public has accepted this for more than 13 years and counting.
Digital TV was a mistake too- while it works better than analog, there is too much compression on most stations. The FCC should have set a minimum bitrate for every station so there wouldn't be any noticeable compression artifacts, but apparently they're too busy making sure nobody says any naughty words. The new "Antenna TV" network is pretty cool and they DON'T put any junk on the screen during shows, but the station that runs it here compresses the picture so much that it's still painful to watch- it looks like a bad internet video or MPEG-1 VideoCD (remember those?)
I wanted to work in TV a long time ago, I'm glad I don't now. I would've wanted to run an independent station, but those have all vanished thanks to Fox and the other 'new' networks. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

I would have to say the new Hawaii Five-0. I was born in Hawaii and it is so nice to watch scenes around the Hawaii each week. They use a lot of popular places so it is easy to spot if I have been there or not. My wife loves Alex O'Laughlin too. I watch X-Play, a video gamers show, reviewing and showing off new gaming stuff.
Oh, and the new CED channel. Awesome reviews of CEDs and showcasing great players of the past. Never miss an episode... |

I hate those watermarks on the screen, seems when it first started they would flash on for a few seconds then go away- now it's perpetually annoying.
As far as what tv shows we watch.... no cable, no antennae. We gave it up again a few months ago. We watch for awhile then get disgusted by lack of anything we want to watch and dump it.
With that being said-Criminal Minds was decent, Lie to Me- interesting. NCIS- ok.
Personally: Perry Mason, Nero Wolfe, Poirot,Sherlock Holmes..... works for me _________________ Scott

Scott, my son, you were born in the wrong time;) I would say you are about 40 years late:) That said, I too miss, GOOD TV! Of course when I was a young lad, there were no VCRs Computers, Vdeo games. We had an antenna outside that one of us kids would have to go out and turn it to bring in channel 10. I'm not telling the "uphill both ways story" But, sometimes I wonder if we have too much to choose from. I know many people love reality shows, like my beloved spouse. I run when I see one coming on. _________________ 1000 titles

| Reality shows are not all they seem to be. Shows are crafted by creative editing and some are even scripted. Some hire actors to fill certain roles and personality types. A crazy you see on a reality show, may actually be a planted actor in the group. If people on these shows were just normal average folk, the shows would have no drama and viewership would fall off. Don't believe these shows are spontaneous and real. |

Yeah, that was what bugged me, at first. When someone would break down and cry, or have another emotion, I would say, "honey, do you realize someone is standing there filming that?" I don't know, I believe you are right, Deen. _________________ 1000 titles

How in the world do you know about the GONG show? Chuck Barris and all those guys were on TV long before you were born! At least you don't LOOK old enough to of watched those shows. I collect Star Trek The Mary Tyler Moore show, I have all but the last season, The Monkees (oldest living Monkeefan) I loved Carol Burnette show, Mission Impossible, (did I mention Star Trek?) Gomer Pyle, Andy Griffith, Cannon, I'll bet not even Dean remembers this one?
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE CLASS OF 65?
I loved that show! It was only on one season, but it was good. I can quote some of the Waltons, Little House on the Prarie. I love those old shows. Mannix, Gunsmoke, Bonanza........ _________________ 1000 titles

You definately were bornn late. Do you like Lost in Space? I loved it growing up, until it got so stoopid!!! With talking carrotts and when they robot started playing the guitar and singing! I do love that robot. Some of the shows you mention were on when I was very young, like 7 or less. Mchales Navy? wow. You don't look 44! I would of said 35 tops. (you'll need to send me a couple of CEDs for the compliment;)) _________________ 1000 titles

I have the Lost in Space set. Ooo, almost forgot- the kids love Burns and Allen, and Amos n Andy. I believe in passing along real humour Love Gracie Allen *the* stereotypical blonde, that in real life was brilliant.
Now about those CED's I owe you, plain paperbag under the bench near the park- look close they might get stolen _________________ Scott

Right now, "Breaking Bad" is definitely my favorite TV show. I also enjoy
"Fringe".
I remember watching "The Gong Show" growing up. It was one of my favorite shows as a child. Gene Gene the Dancing Machine? Come on! |

I was looking to see if V had been renewed for a third season last week, and I think I read the Fringe (the series was created by Jerry Abrhams, the producer of the new Star Trek movie) had been cancelled. Is this true? _________________ 1000 titles

I have seen footage clips of B & A, but not an episode. No wonder you love this format, you do go back! Now, my CEDs were GONE! nothing but a brown paper wrapper?????? _________________ 1000 titles

Nah... Fringe was renewed for another season next year. There were rumors that it was on the chopping block due to low ratings and high production costs, but FOX decided to order a 4th season. Most believe, that will be the last season unless the ratings pick up quite a bit. So yeah.. there is still more fringe coming.. but it is probably going to be the final season. |

That's why V was cancelled:( The cliffhanger was dynamite! Best one I have ever seen. There have been a few times where another network will pick up a series that has been cancelled. I was hoping ScyFy or one fo those networks would pick it up for at least a way to tie up the lose ends. I know Babylon 5 was cancelled at the end of season 4. Another network picked it up for it's final year. Another show I had never heard of, Firefly, was a great scifi show, it was cancelled after season 1. The second season, the producers made a motion picture out of it that grossed 39 million bucks, (pretty much broke even when figuring the budget) But it was a great way to tie up lose ends:) _________________ 1000 titles
