We were finishing up disc 2 of Diary of Ann Frank today, and it was playing very well, and all of a sudden, the picture got very fuzzy and popped, and went completely black. I took the disc out and checked it, no scratches. I popped it in my SGT250 and the disc played perfectly. I tried another disc in my 400 and it won't even go to "0" now. What do I check first? _________________ 1000 titles

Had this happen to me and im pretty sure its the stylus . It happened on the sjt-200 I had, tried same disc in other player and it worked so I switched the stylus out of an sjt-090 and it worked just fine again _________________ I dont own

Sounds like the stylus might have shorted out in this case- there's been two times on my older SGT-250, once when playing a just-opened disc, when the picture went into a pattern of diagonal lines on my old CRT (on a newer TV, it will probably just go into 'muting' mode, displaying "No Signal" or whatever it does) and would not play any further, upon pausing the disc it would not get back on track (just displaying the -- on the time counter) and would not play any other discs after that. I've never seen a stylus simply wear out, but had this happen twice. I saved both of them though so I'll have to send them in for repair, luckily I've still got several spares including 2 never-used ones. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Thanks. Something strange happened. I have 3 extra styli for spares. I took the cover off and opened the metal door. I replaced the stylus, and decided to try it before I puit the top back on. I forgot to put the metal lid back over the stylus. IT STILL DIDN'T PLAY!!!! I saw that I forgot to shut the lid and put it down and fasten it.. IT PLAYED GREAT!!!!! I think these machines are amazing!!! Most of them sitting somewhere unplayed for years. We buy them, plugged them up, and expect them to do the job!!!How cool is that??? _________________ 1000 titles
