Yesterday, I bought a RCA SFT100W CED player which seems to have a problem; it sort of works, but not very well. I hooked it up to my TV when I got home & played a disc. The problem is that the colors are poor & faded, but the sound is perfectly normal. It looks like it goes in & out from black & white to distorted colors. Another problem it has is it will sometimes just stop & play one second of the disc with a still picture & a constant repeat of the sound until I push one of the visual search or rapid access buttons. The disc will continue playing, but with the same bad picture & weak, faded colors. I have tried playing different discs on this RCA SFT100W & they all have this same color problem. I also tried installing it with a different television; the problem persists. However, they all play normal on my other CED player. I believe the problem is with the player; not the discs or the TV.
I think my player is fixable; it definitely needs some work done. Has any one else had this problem? Does any one know what could be wrong with the player? Any advise would be helpful.
Thank You,
Kyle |

Hello. My first player since I have come back was like yours. It played movies, for the most part. My problem was the stylus needed to be rebuilt. You can send your stylus to CEDatum, very good guy. He is honest, he won't rebuild it if it doesn't need it. My stylus only needed to be cleaned. If it just needs to be cleaned, he will only charge 8.00. If it plays, even a little bit, then it prolly is the stylus. If you go that way, Even if that isn't all the probem, I'm sure it needs to be cleaned. Just sitting, not playing, can make them need to be lceaned.
Good Luck
