Not CED-related, but still dumb, nevertheless.

I own over 150 8-tracks, some new in shrink even AND new blanks. That is ingenious, if a bit more than I could afford. Another forums site I'm on introduced me to an early 1970s Denon cassette changer as well as a late 80s Pioneer dual well with a multicassette changer on the playback side.

When I was 15 years younger the local AM station had a huge IGM Carousel that rotated the Fidelipac cartridges to play ad spots. THAT was ingenious too but it was CLUNKY. The company actually gave free REVOX reel to reel decks for automation if you bought the cart machines!

This isn't programmable but it's a good way to lisrten to a few 8-tracks continuously.

Please don't forget that at the time this was made cassettes were not much of a high fidelity medium and 8-tracks, at twice the playback speed, were also a higher quality medium. This didn't change a lot until the later 1970s.

Just like you, I would like to own this Telex 8-track changer, because I am an 8-track collector, but these jokers on E Bay & Craigslist are so greedy that trying to find good deals is becoming a waste of time. Perhaps if the deck was either mint-in-the-box, quadraphonic, or recently serviced, then maybe the price would seem like a better deal. This one does not even work, and they will not ship it. They also say that it is very dirty from sitting in their garage.

I did not know that there was a similar rotating changer for Fidelipac cartridges, but I have never owned nor used any Fidelipac equipment. I also think that 8-track tapes sound better than compact cassettes.

The IGM Carousel machine in question was an electromechanical monstrosity that had lots of problems after 30 years and was running from a 386 PC the last time I saw it. They could jam, or just spin randomly or just be a stubborm tape mule.

Hopefully it's an artificial reef in the Gulf Of Mexico now.

I recently bought the same model off E-bay for about 10% of what this guy wants.

Hey, did you know that a VHD and a CED are the same thing (according to this seller)?

It looks like his specs for this player are right off the cedmagic site as well. Though, I don't understand if it has a power cord, why he can't tell if it turns on or not. Fishy...

The Hitachi style players (Sears 934...150, 250 and 350) turn on when you insert a disc into them. Otherwise, there is no other way to "turn them on" so to speak.

Doesn't matter if it's in Tokyo, or it DOES to them.

I'm not paying at least $42.50 for a wall hanging.
