I'm not so much, look at the character's nickname.

Marie Antoinette was unaware of reality as well.

This auction is located just a few miles down the street from me. Are they unfamiliar with the law of supply & demand?

From Craigslist Los Angeles. Did it even sell for this price brand-new back in the 1980s?

They sold for a bit more than that. I think at least the first BetaMovie units were record-only however, so this would be useless for anyone wanting something to play tapes.

This item:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ITS-A-MAD-MAD-MAD-MAD-WORLD-CED-CAPACITANCE-ELECTRONIC-DISC-/271277594572?pt=US_Movies_Other_Formats&hash=item3f296797cc
is on e-bay now. If you look at the picture, you will notice that the CED is disc 2 of a 2 disc set. I sent a message to the seller about this asking if he knew that he was selling only the second disc. I got a single word reply: "yes". Nowhere on his post is there any mention that the CED is disc #2. The seller seems to be oblivious of the fact. Unfortunately, any buyer will think that he is getting the entire movie and will be sorely disappointed.

If he did sell the disc, I hate to think how he will wrap the disc for mailing.

I had bid on this player:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LASERDISC-LASER-VIDEO-DISC-DISK-PLAYER-REALISTIC-CED-1-VINTAGE-/300970667471?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item46133fedcf
but I changed my mind. What concerns me is that the seller had listed the Realistic player as a laserdisc player. He states that he inserted a disc and it would power up but not play.

What would happen if he had inserted a laserdisc into the Realistic player?

Seller didn't know the correct terminology, as is typical for those who don't know, getting LD and CED confused.

He was selling CED discs, so he probably used the right type disc, but just because it made noise doesn't mean it worked.

i dont think the access door would have opened, my sears player uses the corners of the caddy to push the door open, imagine an ld would be hard to put in it?

I tried to insert an LD into my sears 934 player and it can be done. You have to use a finger and push the center part of the door down to push the LD in.

Yes, and it can also be done with an LP, but I don't think that happened with this seller.

You are exactly right. PLUS I can't believe people list these movies, with filth on the caddys. I mean, a touch of Formula 409, Goo Gone, will make the difference. I found some CEDs today at half price books, 2 of them were double discs, All the movies were a buck, but the double discs were listed as two separate movies. That's not much money if you are looking for the disc, but people just don't get it.

The seller splits 2-disk sets and sells for at least $9.99 per disk as best as I could see from their listings. They have a lot of CEDs for sale.

If you can clean the labels without messing them up I will use your tip, Scott..thanks!

That's Ebayesse for: "These won't work and I know it."

How True. When my Granny watched them in 1082, they played like new. There was a reason for that.....THEY WERE NEW!!! Laughing

In 1082? I did not real Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman made that scene Smile

I found this lot of 20 CED's on E-bay today:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-20-CED-VideoDisks-Great-Movies-and-Titles-See-List-3-/290983734482?pt=US_Movies_Other_Formats&hash=item43bffb6cd2

The bad part is that the discs are laying flat and that this is a very bad idea. Since I don't know how many discs can be layed on each other before damage occurs, these discs maybe still salvageable.

Also, 1 copy of Academy Award Winners, Animated Short Films is in this lot of discs.

Nope. I got a bunch of car dealer discs for around $20 though, they're fun and one of the first uses of laserdiscs.

I remember those and the player vividly from 1980...

and then the dealership burned down. It was over 25 years later before I actually owned any discs or players.

It looks like they were used for at least three model years in the industry judging from those titles alone and the Chevy Citation was the first one I ever viewed. The Celebrity was a little later in the GM timeline, '81 or '82 I think, part of the line that included the Pontiac 6000 and I owned both models along the way (1986 and 1987 respectively).

Renault had just acquired AMC in 1983 and so that may have been one of the few, if only such pressings in that series.

Not worth nearly $750 but if things go as they often do the seller will come to a landing and see that they aren't paying his mortgage this month...they usually do, except for the few like that guy with a red Rollfast 10-speed with Coke logos badly plastered on it who swears that it came from the 1982 Knoxville World's Fair.

That is another story, and one cycle forums members know well and it still sits at $300, probably until the owner passes and they cart it off.

600 discs for $2,000

It's a really nice and handy unit that could feed two vintage amps/receivers and a sub and a nice couch too Cool . Yes, maybe a bit spendy, watch it and see if it drops if you like.
