| I love how all the ced's have such a lengthy description of the movie, some reveal the end in the second paragraph. Plenty of them seem to actually compare said movie to other movies, and even tell you what was happening during filming. They really sold the movie, the things you can do with a 100 square inches haha. |

I agree.p PLUS the movies came out within 3 months of realease at the! theater! I remember when Star Trek II debuted at the movies in June 1982. I bought it in October! That same year! _________________ 1000 titles

Ahh, but if you really want fresh release- you download bootlegs. People take their recorders into the theatre and setup and record. Some are actually pretty good audio/video.
Better bootlegs than the audio concerts from the 70's 80's
Commercial releases though- 6 months now? I see a commercial and think "that sounds interesting" by the time it hits the shelves I've forgotten about it and don't care anymore.
Which is why that streaming new movies will put an end to most 'Regal Cinema' places in the next decade.
I would rather pay $8 and watch it here than go to town and spend the cash. Plus popcorn is only a nickel here _________________ Scott

My favorite back-cover text is "Citizen Kane"- it actually tells you what Rosebud turns out to be at the end! _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

I still have some bootleg Led Zeppelin concerts on LP records. These would have been from the late 70s, purchased in Berkeley. One that I have is called the Destroyer album, it came as 4 LPs in a boxed set, really nice.
Be careful anyone that is downloading any bootleg stuff from the internet, they can track your IP address and your internet provider can see who is doing the downloading. A friend of mine got a warning letter from Comcast for downloading some stuff, mainly copyrighted songs. Another infraction and they would terminate his service. They provided him with a list of stuff that was downloaded. So much for anonimity. |

| You are correct there. Usenet is nearly untrackable and does provide the movement of questionable material as well as a lot of legal material. I prefer not to go there and purchase everything that I want. |

Beetlescott: Citizen Kane is absolutely worth the "price of admission", but keep in mind the historical context. Nothing looked or felt like Citizen Kane then - but in the wake of it, film students have been subjected to it so consistently and thoroughly that you see evidence of its impact absolutely everywhere. It is easy for a latter-day audience to watch it and say "what's the big deal?"
That said, it is still an amazingly hypnotic movie. Absolutely stunning.
It is a similar phenomenon to Errol Morris' The Thin Blue Line. It was completely fresh and new at the time, but now looks quaint (despite still being excellent) - its construction and methodology having been completely absorbed into true crime/reality/TV cop drama shows and movies. |

7jlong, Thanks so much for the info on Citizen Kane, I am going to have to watch it for sure! I know a lot of those old movies were a bit quaint by todays starndards, but I don't care. IMHO there is no better movies that can top "Laur" "The End of the Sidewalk" Mildred Pierce" and many many more of those old classics. To me after some of the things they show today, those old films are refreshing. _________________ 1000 titles
