I was recently given an RCA SGT250 that didn't work and has no remote. I immediately found the belt was bad, so I replaced it with a similarly sized o-ring that seems to have done the trick. My goal is just to see whether this thing will play. The disc now loads and spins, but nothing happens after that. I never get a picture. At one time I could get the mechanism to move down the disc, but a picture never appeared. Could it be that I just have a bad needle or is there more to it than that?
Thanks for any help or suggestions you might have. _________________ Vipurr93 |

Welcome to our club!!!! The SGT250 has always been my favorite player, (except of the SJT400, which I have fallen in love with:)) I would definately try the stylus, if everything else is operating , the stylus could very well be your problem. Have you taken the stylus out and exaimed it? Have you made sure there is a stylus in there? Have a look and contact John @ CEDatum.net. All you have to do is box it up and sent it to him, he will check it out and tell you what it needs. He is very honest. It could be 8.00 for cleaning it, or 35.00 for a rebuild. If you only have one, I would definately think about investing in a second one for back up. Good luck!!!!!!! _________________ 1000 titles

Thanks for replying. I have taken the stylus out and examined it, but I guess I don't really know what I am looking for. It looks like a black triangular pointed tip. It wouldn't surprise me if it is damaged. I may try to find a new stylus somewhere, but will definitely taek your advise and contact John shortly if I can't get it working.
Thanks again! _________________ Vipurr93 |

You are quite welcome. The tip of the stulus is a diamond. 9 times out of 10, it just needs to be cleaned. However, since you are getting no picture at all, it may very well be someting else. I would advise you to send John an email telling him exactly what your issues are. He can advise you. Good luck _________________ 1000 titles

Thanks for all your help. I'll book mark the remote too, but I need to make sure the unit works first. _________________ Vipurr93 |

Hey you are welcome! Let us know how it turns out. I happen to be in the market for another SGT250 (for back up) If you decide to sell it, let me know! Beetlescott@msn.com, or here. _________________ 1000 titles
