Since we are talking about the different players, I thought we might discuss how many movies you have in your collection? I have about 400 in my library now, of the 400 I would say 100 are brand new, either still wrapped or recently taken out of the plastic. My spousal unit and I have been burning them up this week. We have watched 2 movies every night this week. I have, and am proud of my collection. I have all the Pink Panther movies, (i love them) Also, I have all the Star Trek CEDs, (what can I say, I'm a Trekkie), some Bond, quite a few B&W film noirs, (my 84 year old Father In Law comes to visit once in a while) Scary movies Halloween II & III Christine, The Fog, Raiders of the Lost Ark. The first batch of movies I bought back in November had a bunch of Walter Mathau movies in it. I didn't care for his movies, until then. Now I have discovered some great movies. Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, What are some of your favorites? Oh and last night, we watched Gilda for the first time, we loved it!!!

I have a little more than 130 movies, some I had never seen before. They are mostly used, but luckily I haven't come crossed any pressed discs...yet. (If anyone has any pressed discs, can someone take a picture so they can be identified). I pick them up when ever I can spot them, which is quite rare in my area, I hope to make alot of pickups this summer.

Some of my prizes are Friday the 13th part V, which is rare, as well as my complete copy of Return of the Jedi (I have the complete trilogy, plus the making of feature for Empire Strikes back).

I've currently got 68 CEDs including one engineering test disc with some operetta! I just realised I had more Lds - 106 and tomorrow I'm picking up another 55 - but how many of those will join the 'library' is another matter! I also collect film (35, 16, 9.5, Cool and have about 120 features and loads of shorts. No wonder 'Er Indoors thinks I should be kept under the bed ('cos I'm a little potty!)
Cheers, David E

In my collection I have over 1000 individual titles and some rare ones: A Walk Through the Universe, Catch the Wave and both Aloha Conference discs, Memories, 1984 Video Systems, Space Shuttle, Michelangelo and all the interactive Games.
I have several hundred dupicates - at least eight copies of The Black Stalion for example - I've sold a few on ebay and given away more than a few.

Well I didn't mention the other hobby of collecting all things Star Trek. I have The original series on DVD and the remasterd set as well. The Animated Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise on DVD. The Fan Series, All 11 movies on DVD and Star Trek Wrath of Khan, Search for Spock, The Voyage Home, The Undiscovered Country, and all 4 TNG movies on BluRay. I collect Trek goodies too, mostly the model ships. and things.

The official tally:

136 LaserDiscs

663 CED's

I'm sure I'm off a few, nature of the beast. It looks like I came out +200 on our 'group buy' after swapping out better condition discs and donating 60 duplicates.

By the way, Scott, you have to add one to that, there is one in the mail:). Is that 163 "movies" or "CEDs"?

Individual discs - I would think so, assuming 5% are 2 discs....

I was amazed at the interest in this format. I have about 200 in my collection. I joined this forum to enlist help in how best to sell my SJT 300 and the entire collection.

The unit is in mint condition for its age including remote. I've been unable to locate a manual and spare needle and would appreciate any suggestions about how I might locate same.

Any thoughts on pricing and whether the unit should be marketed together with its entire collection or the unit and discs by themselves individually would also be appreciated

Between 650-700 movies, most I haven't seen let alone heard of. Not all in the best shape, half of them we're probably rental copies from small towns. Many of mine have price tags, a couple of them. Usually 39.99 sticker, with a 16.99, next to it, and a 5.99 no returns sticker next to that haha.

Hello and WELCOME TO CEDMAGIC! We love it when new people come in! It is amazing how much interest this format has kept over the years. Have you had your SJT300 for very long? Sorry to hear that you want to get out of it. Personally, if you want to sell your player/movies, If I were you, I'd offer it here first, that way you can avoid those fees that paypal and ebay charge, and you will find some pretty nice folks on this site too. You might consider selling you collection of CEDs either as a set of no more than 25 at a time, if you plan on shipping them.. Tell us where you are located, so we can see if anyone of us are interested and if we are close enough to pick them up. I have sold a few players of the "sjt" line, and the 300, in good condition usually brings 200.00 dollars or a little more. The discs are a differnt story. If you hope to sell them to one collector, it is much better to try to sell them to someone who can pick them up, since it cost around .75 to 1.00 each for shipping. Movies in the cellophane, never having been opened, usually go for 5-7 bucks each, and on down to .99 for "Acceptable". CEDatum is a great place to get your Stylus inspected and cleaned or repaired, John is a great guy to deal with. I sent my first 2 Styli to him when I got back into the format, not knowing anything except what I read here, He cleaned one and repaired one. Great person to deal with. His address is www.cedatum.net. Good luck!

I am actually planning in being in Yuba City somewhere around the end of the month. It will be on the bike though, but I may be able to pick up a few things and ship the rest to myself.... a list of titles would be good though
