I have an idea. We should have a CED MARATHON!!!!! We could do it on a weekend, all on the same day. we can keep in touch here while we are watching. A buddy of mine watched all 11 Star Trek movies while our wives were gone. We had a blast
Here, we coiuld pick our favorite CED, Pop it in, like on the count of 3. I have a chat room that I use Trillian. Or we could chat in Facebook. Whatdo you guys, and gals think? _________________ 1000 titles

You do realize this a sick obsession, don't you?
With that being said.... what movie do we all have in common that would be fun to do it with?
TRON maybe? _________________ Scott

Tron is a good one! Star Trek, too! Now how do we deal with the time difference?
Friday the 13th is a good one everyone seems to have. Is there anyone on this site who has less than 3 copies of Blue Thunder? Or Wargames!!!! _________________ 1000 titles

Actually I only have 3 or 4 copies of Blue Thunder, I only have the 2 covers of Wargames, it is one of my favorite movies:). If you still need a Wargames, I can find you one? _________________ 1000 titles

I have a "Favorites" stash of CED movies in a wooden magazine rack beside my easy chair. It has my favorite CEDs in it. All the Star Trek movies/series, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Christine, Silver Bullet, The Fog, Friday the 13th, Simon & Garfunkle in Central Park, The Thing, John Carpenters The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Alien, Halloween II & III All 3 Star Wars Movies. Just a few of my very favorites. All I need to make it complete is a mint copy of Poltertgeist.
The disc I have watched most of all since I have gotten back into our format, is Christine!!! I found it new:) _________________ 1000 titles

I've been behind in my CED watching- instead I've been watching 2 failed HIGH DEFINITION formats- HD-DVD (which lost the war to Blu-Ray) and D-VHS- yes, they actually made digital hi-def VHS with multichannel sound for a couple years before the HD disc formats came out! _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

There really isn't a lot online about D-VHS based on my search, this article is from a few months before the first consumer units hit the market. There were less than 100 titles out altogether from Universal, Fox, Dreamworks and Artisan, along with 2 music titles- Yes at House of Blues from BMG, and Motley Crue which I don't have and don't know who put that out. Quality is very good, but occasionally there are tape dropouts which result in the picture freezing and stuttering (like bad digital TV reception), these take the place of the lines and glitches you usually see on regular VHS. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

I just watched Krull for the first time. It's the most 'camp' thing I ever saw. It's like the people thrown off the back lot of Raiders & Star Wars got together and made a movie. I give it a D- for viewing but an A for laughter. If only they had intentionally made it a spoof and had Mel Brooks produce it...sorry to offend anyone who loves it.

Ok after that review I had to pull out KRULL and watch it.
Overall not a D-, but I would go with 'average, nothing spectacular' It was a fun bit of fluff, could it have been better- of course. I also enjoy DeathStalker which is campy/spoof with T&A _________________ Scott

They were always running up a hill somewhere....until they got on the draft horses with flaming hooves. Maybe they had serious budget constraints.....

Cool that you have a DHVS player! They basically record/playback HDTV bit-streams... the same signal your TV gets from cable/satellite.The format actually has a few benefits, but I think the stigma of the letters 'VHS' doomed it before it really got out the door. |
