I just wanted to give a heads-up: a store called AA Records Are Us in Toledo, Ohio, has a stash of hundreds (maybe thousands) of CEDs in his basement.

The website is www.aarecordsareus.com; although his website makes no mention of the CEDs, and he doesn't sell things through the website.

I was there looking for LPs and 8-Tracks (8-Tracks being the focus of my collecting.) His basement is where he keeps the 45s, and an entire wall of CEDs two tiers high. I went through some of them; it seemed like every film imaginable from that era was down there. Some of them appeared to be in the original shrinkwrap...and yes, I know the difference between original shrinkwrap and aftermarket shrinkwrap.

This is the quintessential mom-and-pop operation...they sat and smoked and watched PAWN STARS while my father-in-law and I browsed.

I did buy one CED, SLAVE OF THE CANNIBAL GODS, just to have one in my collection. He charged me $5 for it, which seemed like a decent price to me. They were not marked with any prices, so when I brought it back upstairs I didn't know what to expect (sometimes this old guy has an inflated idea of what his records are worth).

I just wanted to let everyone know about it. This guy does not advertise much, plus the CEDs are in his basement, and he doesn't tell anyone about the basement (or the 45s he has for sale down there) unless they ask. So, I am sure those CEDs don't sell real often, and I hate to think of them sitting down there when someone out there might want them!

If you're ever in the Toledo area, take a look!

Things like always baffle me- if you are in business, the idea is to sell things not hide them.
Need to know they are there in the first place, sounds more like a head shop Smile

I was 18, just starting college at UC Berkeley. There was a whole lot of pot smoking going on around that campus. And if you weren't a hippie, you looked out of place...

If you read the linked article on their site, the CED collection in the basement is talked about complete with a picture of 2001 in an opened caddy. But they call them LaserDiscs rather than CEDs. The collection was brought from someone in Detroit.

Thanks Tom for the article!

Yet once again our favorite format is disrespected. Confused with laserdiscs. Evil or Very Mad
