I have noticed on this site that people have different goals for this wonderful hobby. At first, I decided that I would collect a few of my very favorite movies, All the Star Trek ones, James bond, and a few more. But It became more and more fun. I have an idea that I will end up with several hundred movies and a good number of players before I am through. So, what is your goal for your hobby? It is so much fun finding a CED you have been looking for. I won't stop until I find everything CED has on Star Trek in cellophane!!! It does take a lot of room thsse wonderful discs, but I can't help it! I love them!!!!!! Are you going to get all 1700 plus? All the players? Let us know!!!!!!

You are one crazy dude! Ha ha!
My goal is to rule the CED world by buying up every player and every disc known to man! Just kidding of course...he he
Scott, you are really kidding when you say "before I am through", there is only a beginning, no middle and no end to CED collecting. I have been in it since day one back in 1981 and have never stopped. I have always had a CED player in my arsenal of video machines. I have such a fondness for our favorite format that I dumped my laserdisc player and all 200 laserdiscs onto our local gardener. He had no idea what he was getting, but it all looked brand new and he understood that it played movies. He got an instant collection that day, for free...he was a real happy camper, me too, I got rid of it all in one shot.
My real goal is to out live my CED players. Of course that would take some doing as I keep buying more players. I am fascinated with the different models and brands and every now and then, I gotta have a new old one. I am a sucker for a good deal.
I still enjoy the hunt for players and discs, searching the internet as well as thrift stores, pawn shops and yard sales. You would think it was Christmas again when I find some discs or a player (especially when no one knows what it is).
Ultimately, I will continue to collect this wonderful and quirky format forever.
Funny how I chose to watch 2010 on CED, when I also have it on Blu-ray. I suppose all you collectors do the same thing.
Keep collecting and keep this hobby alive!!!!!!
Very Happy

Man, You are THE MAN!!! I hung on to the format for quite some time after they pulled the plug. I remember when I went to West Town Mall in Knoxville, TN, straight to the movie store, and there, laid out before me was bin after bin after glorious bin of BRAND NEW CEDs! The good thing is they were 5 bucks each!!!! My player stopped working, I realize now that I needed a stylus. I envy you because you never got out of it. I am so impressed. I'm going to have to save my dough up for a plane ticket to Oregon! Wink. It is amazing all this excitemet! I started lurking in here for a couple of years before I came in! and I started looking at CED players on Ebay way back then too. It's amazing! I guess you are right, you really never get out of it, at least people lik us. You know, there is something strange. Last night I put in Max Dugin Returns, (im a Marsha Mason fan) and I realized that the last time I watched that movie, it was on CED! It is amazing Then I started thinking about it, and there are several movies that I originally watched on this format that I always claimed and a favorite, only to realize how long it had been since I had watched it. I have no idea why, but it is the truth. It is amazing! Another one is Wargames, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, Poltergeist is aonother one. (unfortunately I can't find a decent copy) Visiting Hours, Psycho II is another one in enjoy too. Talk about regret, I would love to of kept my old mmovies. Thanks Dean for sharing.

Goals, we need goals? hmmm, at first it was "there's only 1,730 US titles, get them all" Then it was "I really only certain genres and don't care about _____"

I suspect when is all said and done I'll have them all, even I never watch them all Smile

I give the kids a choice "we can watch _____ on dvd, LD, CED- your pick"

The kids had a sleepover last weekend- 5 kids in the house. 16yr old boy says COOOLLLL- so the boys watched LD then the girls come over and watch Herbie the Love Bug with the boys on CED.
I think we have the coolest house Wink

It was funny though, my son had to confirm how and which buttons needed pushed- I was watching a dvd prior to it, so it's a different setup- easy once you know the system though

Now, that is addicted!

I prefer not to own every disc, I think if I did, I would have had them all by now, especially after collecting since 1981. I have a lot of movies on DVD, so I would probably not collect them on CED, well, maybe some of them.
