When I came across that I thought you were selling everything off Wink

Care to scout it out and see what he has and how much ? Maybe we can take some off his hands.

All or none- means if nobody has cash soon, he'll let it go cheap? I'm interested in Action, SF,Horror. So if anybody else wants to jump in we can divvy it up amongst a couple of people and kick you some for your time.
Just thinking out loud as we have no idea if they are even playable or actually in decent shape.

Well, the difference is with this one, I get to look at them before I commit. I know you can't tell much by looking, but there are clues. Also, If I go pic them up, I can request he show me some!!!

That is right! Alchemy scored that collection of 500 discs from a guy in Oregon City. I tell ya, I got really close to pulling the trigger on that lot. After Beetlescott and the 650 disc score, maybe it will be my turn in the box...now where am I going to put all those discs?

How's your garage for storage? Smile

I haven't started building my cabinet yet, but the rough dimensions will be 90"h x 72"l that should hold a few Wink

Alchemy, looks like Beetlescott has a good shot at getting his hands on those 650 discs, many are in cello too. I have offered to put up some cash to get in on the discs. Would you be willing to do so also? Keep in mind that once Beetlescott gets them, we would have to pay some additional shipping costs based on how many discs we end up with. This could be fun and might fill in some gaps in our collections! Let us know if you are in...

We'll let Beetlescott negotiate the cost. I am sure he could get a good deal. Our shipping cost would be based on each of our takes.

OK, I spoke with the guy on the phone, I meet him Wedensday to look the movies. I told him I wouldn't be getting them Wed, but that I was going to report back to you guys. He answered with, "They are ALL in good shape." I'm excited but I can't do it unless you guys wand a lot of them, it's not the money, but the space. We just moved into a condo that was almmost exactly HALF of the size of the house we were living in. I already have 11 of those crates full. I will be able to sell my part of the cellophane wrapped ones, so that will thin my "growing" pile down a bit. I will let you guys know Wed afternoom, as I am meeting him at 10 AM

Actually I had to reschudle a time, with him, and he never got back with me to tell me what time. I can't afford to get all of them, being up towards 700 movies. I have no room for that many movies. If I do get them, I need MOST of them to go to other homes. My crates hold about 45 movies each, that means over 14 crates. more! I already have 12 crates. I am very very VERY interested in looking at them, in getting them. But I need to share with as many of you guys as possilbe. I could keep 200 of them, but no more. What do you guys think?

Beetlescott, considering the size of my collection and judging from Alchemy's collection, as well as your own collection, I think we would all be buying a lot of duplicate movies and a lot that we don't want. So, that being said, if I were you, you might want to check them out, see what he has and what the conditions are, maybe he will sell you some portion of them on the spot, especially if you have cash in hand. You might mention the quandry that most collectors would have with such a large number of discs. Also if you plan to sell a lot of them, then it might be worth it. Other than that, it might be time to pass on them. I would still be willing to help you out, but I probably wouldn't want any more than maybe 100 of them, considering the cost to ship that many. Buying large collections are fine if you live near the seller and can pick them up. The bargain deal becomes less of a bargain if you have to spend a lot per disc to get them shipped. Just my take on the matter.

It all comes down to 'total price' disc+ shipping = total.
Do we have a $$ he wants for all? If it was me there I'd offer him $400 take it or leave it. He probably wants $2000 and will never see it, so the question to him is 'do you want them gone'
Storage will be an issue long term, short term though shouldn't be an issue.
Assuming Dean takes 100+/- and I take 200+/- do we have anybody else here that's interested?

Alchemy, I think the sellers asking price was $325, but Beetle and I thought of offering $200.

Come on- I'm in an apartment and have been able to store every CED title put out, so space shouldn't be a concern for anybody! Smile

I'm always wary of someone's description of condition until I see them for myself- the first really big load of discs I got was after I placed a classified ad saying that I'd buy any CED title I had- this was in 1994 so some of the original owners still had collections they weren't watching anymore and were ready to get rid of them. I paid an average of $5 per disc, which was decent since DVDs weren't out yet and used VHS tapes usually sold for more than that. One guy called me asking what I was paying and I told him $5, he said "Well, I was hoping to get $6." I asked what condition they were in and he said "A-1," and since this was still the pre-internet era and I was grabbing any discs I could find, I said OK. I went to his house and many of the covers didn't really look in perfect shape, but I assumed that they at least played well. The ones I watched right away were decent, but certainly not "A-1" as he'd said. A few months later I tried to watch Eddie and the Cruisers which I'd gotten from him, and the disc turned out to be WARPED and wouldn't play at all! I don't know this guy's name, but whoever he is, I don't like him! Laughing

$325 seems cheap *IF* they are in fact minty and a lot of sealed discs. $250 is where you'd end up if you go that low and he doesn't toss ya outta the house Wink

#50 is the PO's weight limit isn't it? They could be packaged in those ITSO boxes and shipped out west Wink

Beetlescott, sounds like a good deal, only if you can house the discs and go through the trouble of distributing them out to us. I would be willing to kick in $50 plus shipping to buy a portion of the discs. I don't know how many discs I would want, but gambling with $50 is worth it just to be a part of this endevour. We could pay you through your PayPal account. We should pay you up front for the discs, then pay the shipping as needed. Any others willing to gamble?
