Hello- new to the world of CED's. I recently picked up a SGT-200 along with 30 movies. The player was in original box and packing had manuals and cards and bill of sale.
Plays great so far.
Since I will be wanting to pick up more movies- what is a fair price for buying "pig in a poke" collections? If you find 100 for sale, what would you pay? $50, $100 or more? I want to be fair, but....
This is for my personal addiction, not reselling. I also just got into LaserDiscs as well..... where does it end? _________________ Scott

Hello, and welcome to the world of CEDs! You are quite lucky to have found a player in the box! There are some important sites you will want to become familiar with, CEDatum, who sells parts for your player, and CEDpro who refurbishes the players, even rebuilds them. I recently came into 340 movies that are mostly brand new or like new. I have over 100 movies that are still in the cellophane. I will give you a very good deal on them, just because I'm thrilled to see new people get "hooked" on this wonderful forum! Now, to answer your question, if you don't know anything about the movies, you are really purchasing a "pig i a poke". I have purchased a player with 35 movies for 50 bucks, I ahve seen a player with 100 movies for 50 dollars. I happened upon a great deal. The movies I purchased were from a guy who had worked for RCA and the movies were stored properly. If you are really interested in getting some movies for your personal library, shoot me an email. Be sure and put CED in the subject line so it doesn't go to my junk mail. I actually have a few laser movies, (Peter Pan & Under Seige) that if we can deal on the movies, I'll throw them in for free!!! SEnd me an email Beetlescott@msn.com...Scott _________________ 1000 titles

CED's are the wave of the future- who needs blue ray
I figure running the CED and a turntable is part of my exercise program
With only 1730 discs made (according to LDDB) does anybody have them all or is it even possible? _________________ Scott

Yes, actually there are 2 people on this site that claims to have them all. Tom who is the owner/adminstrator and one of the other guys, (I can't remember) haas all of them. I have close to 450 of them. I do have a lot of them for sale, but the more I get into these, the more I wanna keep them, simpley because I haven't see any this clean and new looking since 1982. You ought to go buy the CEDmagic disc that is for sale in on this site, it has a full Collectors Guide. It's 8 bucks, there is a lot of good helpful stuff. Good luck with your collecting! _________________ 1000 titles

Well I went and did it- 13 boxes came home with me today. Now starts the fun of checking them over .
They were all played except for the last 50 that he picked up. I'm sure there will be a few duplicates that I will offer up in the next few days.
Trades anyone? hmmmm _________________ Scott

Check those discs before playing them!
I recently had a lot I brought home and one of them had a broken disc inside. I should have pulled it out of it's caddy beforehand to check and was lucky that attempting to play it didn't completely destroy my stylus.
I would recommend checking every unknown disc by carefully pulling ti out of it's caddy enough to inspect it before you place it in any player.
The damage you might do to the disc by pulling it out of the caddy far under-weighs the damage that attempting to play a broken disc can possibly do to your now rare player. |

Hmmm, where to start:
I've gone through and cataloged/graded, they have been pulled out of the case - so far no broken ones.
I do have 2 movies that are missing either part 1 or 2- how does that happen?? The one I was wanting watch Dune, but it looks like I'll need to pick it up somewhere.
As far as duplicates go- 32 appears to be the number. So- anybody interested in a trade or really cheap discs? _________________ Scott

Maybe we can swap! Send me a list of your dupes, and I'll get you a list. I don't actually have my movies here, they went on to the new place, in Louisville, but it looks like I have about 60 dupes, (so far) but I'll be picking up over 100 new ones. _________________ 1000 titles

Nice!
I live in PA and had some CEDs shipped from RI a few weeks ago that ended up taking an unnecessary trip through MD, and then down to NC for a week, before finally reaching me. Who knows... |
