I realize there isn't much going on here lately, and I'm all pumped and excited, getting back into it after many years away. Some of you have held this site together, and the ones of you who have held it together, I salute you. I wanna talk with people who are into this wonderful hobby. If you are new here or even if you are a veteren CED lover, I'd love to hear what kind of player you have, how many movies do you have this format? I went to Ear Extacy yesterday and talked with a guy for a little bit, telling him about RCA SelectAVision video disc players and discs. he had no idea what I was talking about, it was funny. But he was very interested in hearing all about it. I searched over 3 antique malls and a record stores and FINALLY found JailHouse Rock. The best place to find any discs at all is on Ebay. So What's your story? _________________ 1000 titles

I wanted a videodisc player when they came out- we didn't even have a VCR until 1985. In 1993 I found my first player at a flea market, and thought it was so cool that I set out to collect every title put out on the format, which took me about 12 or so years. I thought I was the only person on the planet who cared about these until the internet came along. I used to make thrift store runs at least once a week, and went to the flea markets quite often too. I got my last few hundred through Ebay (the last regular title that completed my collection was "Greatest Fights of the 70s" from MGM.) _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Wow! Do you have all 1700 titles? If you do, then I suppose I have disc envy;) Seriously, what was the most you paid for one? _________________ 1000 titles

I have also been a long time collector. I purchased my first player, a Realistic CED1 from Radio Shack when they first came out. This player died about 3 years ago and I tossed it into the garbage. Now I wish I had kept it and tried to repair it, however it was not doing well and I was moving. I had kept it in perfect condition, so from the outside, it looked like it was brand new. I did keep the stylus, manual and original box, which I still have.
I currently own 8 players and probably over 600 discs. I have attempted to collect all of the box sets and interactive discs. I still need to obtain "A Week at the Races" and "Murder Anyone?"
I also have some original RCA all wood CED cabinets which I purchased from my local dealer in about 1982. They are all wood with glass doors, designed to be stackable and perfect for the CEDs. Does anyone else have these? I think they sold for about $30 back in 82.
I have an original CED carry case that I got from the store I bought most of my discs from in the early days. It is made of cardboard, folds open and has a plastic carry handle. I also have an original dealer's binder with full color pages of many of the discs that were available at the time. I also have some CED catalogs and other dealer stuff.
I currently have 3 players in operation in 3 rooms. They are an SKT400, SJT200 and a SGT250. I have new in the box, an SFT100W, SJT300 and an SJT400. My latest players are a Sears 934.54780150 and another SJT300. I repaired the Sears player and it now works perfectly, the SJT300 plays but has some issues, so I will continue to work on that one. I picked up the non-working Sears player for free when I purchased someone's collection. I have tinkered with most of my players, usually for belts and turntable issues. I find it fun to take a player that is not working and returning it to playable condition. My SJT200, SKT400 and SGT250 were also not working when I first got them. Getting them up and running is half the fun in collecting CED players!
Collecting CEDs has always been a lot of fun. I use to have laser discs too, but got rid of my player and discs when I moved to Oregon. I just always enjoyed my CEDs a whole lot more...
Well...Happy Collecting! |

Most I ever paid for one disc was $200 for Memories of Videodisc, since it's so rare and it was the first time I found one offered for sale. Most I paid for a regular title was $20 for Hard Day's Night at a flea market- this was before Ebay and I didn't know this title was even released- it was the only CED that MPI Home Video ever put out. I think the least I paid for a CED was 50 cents.
Haven't watched all of them, but hope to eventually. I have my SGT-250 hooked to my new 55-inch LCD and upconverted to 1080P! _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

When I purchased my second player, it came with some movies. Some of them I won't be keeping, I am going to sell on Ebay. However before I put them up, I am going to list them tomorrow on here, if anyone wants any of the titles, I'll sell them to yall for 3.00. I'll make a list and post it on a new thread. If anyone wants a list shoot me an email to Beetlescott@msn.com. Be sure and put CED in the subject line. _________________ 1000 titles
