CED VideoDisc and Player Discussion

First CED and 50 disks was from a relative. It lasted 1 week.
Bought used one, [u]then[/u] all service literature and factory training manuals being closed out at FOX International.
Later bought height gauge, "Rykon grease", Special Oil & spare Styli.

Have SJT-100, 200, 400. and just got done doing PM on all, 1 year ago.
Last night, was going to watch a movie on a CED. Its rare with so much live. but disk loaded and unloaded but machine would only "spin its wheels". Would not turn off.
Finally gave up on the movie and checked out unit. Let it sit and today found the problem. The large (main) function gear assembly has a cam or pawl, with a light spring that pulls it out from center, INSIDE the function gear.
The cam was sluggish to return due to grease migration or dirt build up between pawl and gear surface.
wadded up paper towel and put it below main gear to catch excess alcohol. Cleaned around pawl and it now turns on and off.
All functions appear OK.
A relief, as I expected to have to spend effort to get re-familiar with it.
