Hi I am new to the site. DOes anyone know of a way or anyone who can transfer a CED disc to DVD. I do not have a player but have a disc I want to see.
Also I have many promo thick stock disc labels that were used as display in my Dad's TV store when the Selectavison came out if anyone is interested.
Thanks Jason |

| My aunt gave me her old RCA Selectavision CED player and all of her discs. I would love to transfer them to DVD for her. Is there a way? |

I think I am interested!
ooops did not see first post was over a year ago hahaha
As for putting to dvd, there is a few ways, most require a capture card or usb capture and a pc! You can use dvd recorders but that could get messy as most ced's have two sides. If you get a decent capture card for your pc you can pause or stop recording, flip and then start again or even join them if it makes two separate files and you can edit alot on your pc!

All you need is a set top recorder that hooks up to your TV. Just make sure the discs are skip free. _________________

| My business does DVD transfers - we could transfer them for you if you don't want to bother with the whole process, but it might not be worth the cost for you to send it and have us do it and send it back to you. But if you are interested, let me know and I can provide more information. I don't want to spam up the forum with details unless there really is interest. Thanks! |

| Hey wzartv, I would be interested in getting a DVD transfer of a disc I have on the way to me. Would you be able to email me details of how much it would cost to chris@christianrobinson.com? Thanks! |

Since I see there's interest, here's a quote of what it would be (the same thing I sent Chris).
1. You pay for shipping to our address, whatever that may be. Zip is 19525 if you want to get an estimate.
2. $15 would cover a one-pass transfer, meaning it's placed in the machine and dumped over to DVD without pre-playing it (to remove dirt and skipping). For $20, we'd run it through once, just for the sake of cleaning, and then run it through again for the transfer (they're always better the second time around). If you're really concerned about quality and want more run-throughs, just add $5 per run. Due to the nature of the format, I can't really guarantee a "skip-free" transfer. But you can trust that we have properly running machines as I have many here that have a lightly used stylus.
3. Printing of the movie name directly on the disc is included. Disc will be placed into a plastic jewel case. If you're really into album cases that look nice on your shelf, we could design one for you, but that'll cost more.
4. I'd have to quote you on the return shipping, since I don't know what it would be in advance, but of course it should be similar to what you paid to get it here.
I probably would have you just sign a simple waiver saying we're not liable for the CED if anything crazy would happen to it while transferring. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks! |

I truly am not knocking anyones ideas, but I don't understand why anyone would want to transfer their CEDs to DVD? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? I just never thught about it.

Ya know, I thought the same thing and that's why I didn't bother to post details or make up a pricing list.
But I guess some folks don't have a player, and there may have been a few titles that weren't released elsewhere or are difficult to find and perhaps that's why.
But as for me - I'll be keeping my movies in their original format for as long as they survive!

Why would you need a cover designing when you could just scan the original cover for the front and back of the case?
There is even the spine of the case you could scan for the side of the cd case. |

That's mostly what I'm referring to when I say "cover design." But perhaps the images on the case aren't in good shape, etc.
The cost is a bit more since I have to pay an employee to take the time to scan it, process it on the computer, size it, and then print it in full color, versus simply printing the movie name on the disc, which doesn't take long at all. That's what that is all about. |
