Hey everybody,

I've got a CED of On Her Majestys Secret Service, the Bond film from 1969, and there is a really great review on back of the 2nd disc by Caroline Bender (and is it unusual that there is a different write up, also by her, on the 1st disc?)

I don't have a lot of CEDs, mostly Bond ones, and the blurbs aren't sourced, most don't have a name attached.

From Russia With Love's is by Harvey Elliott.

I've done some basic searches on Google for the names - does anybody know who these people were? Were they RCA employees?

In the early days of CED, Seth Willenson was the VP of marketing. Seth came from Films Incorporated a company that rented 16mm films to colleges and other "non-theatrical" entities. I don't know Caroline Bender, but I know that many of the people who wrote liner notes for early RCA releases (Ira Deutschman, Marci Gallup, Rhonda Blum, etc.) came from that industry. They weren't film critics, but film enthusiasts who worked at the non-theatrical distributors.

FWIT, I credit Seth and his background for the large number of classic films released by RCA at the dawn of the CED age.

I like how the first wave of releases describe the ENTIRE movie on the back cover- Citizen Kane even tells what Rosebud turns out to be at the end!
