|

Hello everyone,
I'm new here and new to the whole CED world.
I recently got a SJT-300 model RCA Selectavision player at a local fleamarket for $5.
I got it home and took the cover off, and found a gear was broken. I fixed that and now I have another problem. The gear had broken because the motor that spins the gears to move the stylus arm across the player will not quit going....it never stops! It keeps trying to move the stylus arm back to the front of the player, once the arm gets there, the motor keeps going.
Does anyone have any kind of clue what could be causing this???
Any information or insight would be AWESOME!
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
try to use a contact spray cleaner on all mechanical sensors.
Clean the stylus arm path and put a bit of oil.
Keep us informed _________________ Impossible is not french ^_^ |

Ah, I got the problem fixed. Turns out I overlooked a censor, and thanks to Tom I located it and found out there was a plastic cover for the ribbon connector blocking the stylus arm from moving all the way back in. I couldn't figure out how to reposition the plastic cover, so I took it out and placed a piece of electrical tape over the ribbon connector to keep it down, and everything seems to be working fine now.
Although I haven't been able to play any movies in it yet, because I need to get a new stylus. Apparently the one in it has went bad... I've already got some movies ordered from a friend on the film forum I am a part of (16mmfilmtalk.com) and they should be in the mail within a week or so.
Now the only thing left to do is order a new stylus |
