Ive got an SFT100 that loops after a couple of seconds but if i slowly pull the arm foward it plays fine and also i have a zenith vp2000 that plays but has the warped discoloring effect i think caused by the turntable speed. My question is what could i swap to fix the sft100 or the zeneth player?
BTW i have already tried swapping the stylus with no change. Any advice or help would be appreciated. |

Hi. I don't know if you got my e-mail or not. If you did, I'm sorry I haven't tested out that arm that I have yet. But if you want to use your VP2000 for parts, you can use any part out of it for your SFT-100.
Have you looked inside both players yet? If you haven't, take the covers off and compare the insides of both players. It sure surprised me the first time I looked inside of a VP2000 - they're the same machine! In fact, my SGT-250 now has a VP2000 arm in it. On the SGT-250, the cartridge door latch has to be swapped out, due to a difference in the player's top cover, but you don't have to worry about that if you're putting it in an SFT-100.
Changing out the arm isn't too difficult - there's a plastic retaining bracket on the left side (held on by 2 screws). When you remove that, you can take off a small plate that holds the metal rail in place (right side of the player - held on by 2 screws). The last thing you have to do is remove the plate that holds the cable in place (again, just 2 screws), and then unplug the cable. Reassembly is just the reverse.
You could try a new belt in the VP2000. That may fix the problem with it, but I'm not certain on that, as I have seen a few players with that problem, and I was unable to figure out how to fix it (though I only tried using old belts from other players, not new ones - that may be where I was messing up). However, you have to partially remove the arm and the top circuit board to get to the belt, so it may be easier just to swap the arms. |

| To update i swapped the arm out with no change and also the servo motor with no change. So now i am swapping out the main board to see if that fixes the sft. There is a lot of wires so it is taking a while to swap out. I hope this fixes it. |

| Yeah, the computer board unfortunately has a lot of wire-wrapped wires, but at least it's not as bad as the bottom board. If the problem is not in the arm or the servo motor, then the computer board (with the buttons & the front display) would be the only other thing I could think of. That's actually where the most of the servo controller circuits are located - the rest are in the arm. |
