Hello everybody and happy new year 2009 (even if we all know that it's could be hard year... ),
I finally receive this morning a SJT400 of January 84
The machine is not in a perfect shape but tend to work .
I suppose the machine was painted in black by a previous owner because it's not perfect :
Its case is a bit damaged at the back, but the front suffer from a shock on the bottom left and a hit just upper the PAUSE button...
Only the PAUSE button work correctly. I desasemble the front , but found that the transfert contact film was glued, so no way to check which track have to be repaired with a silver contact pen.
So i'm looking for a complete and working front
I also get for remote a black drilled RCA CRK42A (to get access to the CED/DISC functions, the internal circuit is printed CRK32A...).
This morning I pressed it many times, and the player got lock in Play mode, no way to do something even a PAUSE.
Even power it off, i was still locked in Play...
After a few hours disconnected, it was ok.
(during this time I fully desasemble the remote too and use contact spray cleaner ... ).
About the play (yes we have TV set that 60 Hz mode since mid 80's), the video varies from clean to "snow" (stylus ??), and got some drop out (black screen) but that may due to the hardly visible defect on the disc i used (star trek 1).
I think about replacing all electro-chimical capacitors (they are now over 20 years), is there a list of theirs values ? (I don't find the service manual).
I need some advices, even if i have some knowledge in "vintage" techs (got Philips VCR LP1700 square tape player, Philips/grundig Video2000, Sony 8/Hi8, SVHS, LV/LD player, HDV camecorder,... and tons of videogame system), and restored some Philips TV set this year (26" 1984, 21"110° 1987, 21"90° 1988). _________________ Impossible is not french ^_^ |
