|
|
Hello
In discussion with other members, questions have come up relating to my laserdisc collection that will be for sale. It seems many folks that like CEDs also like laserdiscs.
The main question is: Do I have a list? The answer is: I do not. However, if there was greater appeal, I would put together a list, as it is quite a large collection.
I realize this is a CED site, and the owner is certainly within his or her rights to restrict postings to germane topics.
So, my question to the site owner is: Would posting a laserdisc list be outside of your rules of conduct? I certainly do not want to do things that you consider objectionable.
Thanks for your consideration,
Bruce |

It would be preferable to have title listings on CED Forum be for CED's only. Someone seeing a long listing would logically assume they are the CED format (having glanced past the subject line without reading it) and could try to purchase them under that assumption.
An alternative is to post your list to a LaserDisc site and then provide a link to that listing, making clear that they are LaserDiscs. This Usenet group for LaserDiscs is still pretty active:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.video.laserdisc
While alt.video.laserdisc is active by our standards, it is a mere shadow of what it was back in the late 1990s. Here's an interesting thread discussing this decline:

Depending on how involved you want to get with selling off your collection, it would also not be a bad idea to consider setting up a shop through www.lddb.com - you could either set up a real shop or simply post your collection and let people know (here and at the group that Tom mentioned) that everything is for sale. If you have a shop, though, people can look up titles and be directed to your collection if you have it available.
The site owner of LDDB, Julien Wilk, is a great guy and would likely be happy to help with any questions. |

Hello
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, it would seem inappropriate to post LDs on a CED website.
However, I may just put a list together on word doc and then anyone here who is interested can obtain the list.
I am not really ready to sell the vast majority yet.
Thanks again,
Bruce |
