It says it works well, but it looks kind of rough. There are players out there that look like they have been taken care of. But it looks like it is going to go cheap, it might be worth it.

Here is a Hitachi CED player for sale on Ebay. It does not say the model number, and I can not read what it says on the pictures.

This player listing is for UK pickup only, but it contains a couple of rarities:

It took me a long time to find that IR remote, although there are alternatives for controlling this particular player (some old LaserDisc remotes, Palm OS handheld, or JP1 remote).

And note the spare stylus cartridge is in a labeled blue box. I've previously only seen those in plain white boxes:

Very cool! I wish I could get that remote! I have two of the hitachi stylus in white box and two that came with a sears player but just have numbers and g-stereo written on the white box.

I have a few spare Hitachi styli but the one that impresses me the most is the one that CEDatum rebuilt for me. It is hands down the best. I have never had such good picture quality from any player or stylus. Don't know why this is other than its specs must be perfect. Thanks John

This seller started off with 36 of these remotes for $9.99 each and presently has nine left:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290364988559

Getting a brand-new remote is easier than soldering a capacitor into one of the old TV remotes, and I haven't seen any of those TV remotes in a thrift store for some time now:

I have been watching sites for a few months looking for a good deal, and now I hope I've found it. I got a RCA SKT400 in good working order for $100 shipped. No remote.

I see the SJT line discussed quite a bit, but not the SKT, which is direct drive instead of belt driven.

Are the SKTs not as desirable?

The sjt and skt models (direct drive models, still small loading belts though) are the same except a few hardware differences. The sgt and sft models from rca are the belt driven model players! http://www.cedmagic.com/museum/ced-player-guide/ced-player-guide.html

I was trying to put a value on my unused Hitachi stylus so I've been checking ebay for them, and did not find any for ages. But just today found where there's two being sold in one lot, and for less than the RCA cartridges I've looked up.

No, I'm not selling the one I have because I might find a stereo player one day. That's what I've been looking for and found the listing.

This is from some other fellow, my ebay ID is Grandflag.

I think all the Hitachi players were stereo-adaptable, though the adaptor is pretty hard to find. I once saw an auction with a player, stereo adaptor and a ton of discs but it would've cost several hundred bucks with shipping and I just couldn't do that given I already had all or most of the discs they included.

Someone better get that Hitachi stylus or I will bid on it.

A new stylus that I bought in 1988 cost $90.00 from Sears. $49+ is a bargain.

I was very close but it looked liked it had been soaked before so I stayed away. You can see it in the labels:(

Funny how the guy that jacked that listings price way up was also bidding on this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150734847930 and won. Gotta love when a zero comes in and ruins it for others pretty bad Sad I thought it was another ridiculous zombie arse but nope just a 0 that is awesome!

That auction went high due to the one disc. I look for that disc too just for the collection, but no way I'm paying $100 plus $50 shipping for one disc.

Anyway, there's a much better release of Zombie on laserdisc at better prices, a Roan Group top quality transfer release that's the correct aspect ratio of 2.35 and uncut, with both Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks.

http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/10375/RGL9625/Zombie:-Special-Edition-(1979)

And that clown that keeps upping prices has got to have some deep pockets, deeper than the rest of us anyway.

I've only been collecting for about a year but for me, the fun in collecting CEDs is the challenge (craigslist, trading, interacting with other collectors for leads). I have bought a couple titles I REALLY wanted but not for more than a couple bucks. Just seems like cheating to me but all the power to whomever is emptying their wallet for some great rare titles. /rant Very Happy
