Hello

I am trying to hook my CED player to a DVD player. My CED player has only an antenna out; no RCA jacks. The DVD player has RCA jacks, and an antenna in.

My plan is to run the CED player through the DVD player on the DVD player's in jacks. The out jacks go to the TV.

As I mentioned, I have no RCA jacks on the CED player. So, is there some type of converter that is available that will convert the antenna out signal to RCA jack signal? Or what else is being done?

Thanks,

Bruce

There are converters available at local radio shacks and similar stores for that application, but if your hoping for a upgraded picture running it through a/v, it is still a mono analog coax setup, and it will remain the same. I run all my video components through one splitter box, and all my old school analog disc and game components through a coax splitter, it helps separate them cleanly, and is easier to use in my opinion.

I'm guessing you have one of those portable DVD players with the built-in screen. As Raziel666 says, Radio Shack would probably have what you need, and possibly some other stores too. If the "antenna in" jack on your DVD player looks like a headphone jack, then I would suggest getting an adapter that converts a "1/8-inch phone jack" (headphone jack) to an "F-connector" (cable connector). I'm quite sure Radio Shack still carries it; they have for decades. It's a fairly small adapter and probably fairly cheap. Then all you need is to run a coax cable from the CED player to the adapter, which will plug into the DVD player. Please let me know if your player's "antenna in" jack is something other than a headphone-type jack; I can suggest something else if it has a different connector.

I checked with Radio Shack, and they do not have a converter to RCA plug-ins. So, have to use the antenna ins/outs. That is ok, but I prefer the RCA hookups.

I occasionally see these type of converters at the Big Lots stores and at Walmart or Kmart. Radio Shack isn't the RS of old when they had lots of pretty unique electronics parts. They are pretty much an overpriced JR version of a best buy or circuit city, it seems. Of course, a small VCR will do the job too.

Actually, to go from RF coaxial to composite audio/video, you would need an RF demodulator and they are not cheap. The cheap ($20-$30) units that Radio Shack and Big Lots sell are RF modulators that convert component audio/video to channel 3 or 4 RF coaxial.

Yes, excuse me, I know that you need an RF DEmodulator, and actually, I did see them at both Radio Shack and Big Lots (back then it was called Pic N Save) in the past, though have not recently. They weren't too cheap either, but regardless a VCR will do the job and you can get one now for $5 or $10. I've also seen some on ebay recently not too expensive, less than $20. The RF modulator at Big Lots isn't anywhere near $20, but Radio Shack is ridiculous.
