Hi

Just wanted to say glad to be here. I have a movie collection that numbers almost 500 on almost every format that pre-recorded media has been released on = Beta, VHS, CED, Laserdisc, MovieCD, Video Compact Disc (VCD), DVD and Mini-DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-Ray.

I have a Zenith VP-2000 with the original box and owners manual and 31 Titles in my CED collection. Back in February I started to watch my entire collection alphabetically. Everything started out fine, but about halfway through, my player started acting up. I would put a movie in, It would start playing and the picture was good. As the movie progressed the picture would become fuzzy and by the end of the side the picture was gone, all the while the sound was fine. Does anyone know what is causing this and how it can be repaired?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

I figured out what was causing the problem. I had put an "NOS" stylus on the machine because the "original" stylus was giving me problems because the needle rod was bent in several places. Just as a test I pulled out the old one and played around with straightening it and put it back in. Lo and behold it is working and I am not having any problems with the picture anymore. Just thought I would share, and thank you all for the help

Cool! I always wondered if a stylus with a bent rod could still be used if carefully straightened out as much as possible. I've heard about problems with NOS styli - perhaps the flat copper wire coming off of the stylus tip is oxidized, or maybe the little brass contact that it goes to. Check it out - you might be able to fix the NOS stylus as well - then you'll have a good spare. Let me know if you might want any spare parts for the Zenith - I ended up scrapping my old CED players, including a VP-2000, and I'm trying to find anyone who wants parts before I end up having to throw them away. (I also have some laserdisc parts too, but only from really old players, like the LD-660, the VP-1000, and the PR-7820.)
