|
|
This is a stupid question, but I need to find an easy way to figure out the cost of shipping any number (anywhere between 1 and 100) of CEDs in the US. I've got a hundred or so duplicate discs that I need to sell off soon as I have no place to keep them. I'd just go ahead and list them right now, but I have no idea what the postage costs are- I don't even know if distance makes any difference. Supposedly if one person buys 10, it'd cost a lot less to ship those than 10 CEDs to 10 different addresses. I don't expect to make a lot of money off these, but I don't want to end up losing money by paying more to ship them than what I get for them.
Hopefully someone here who's sold more of these through the mail than I have can help me figure this out. I'd like them all to go to good homes, but if I ever have to move (don't worry, I don't think that'll happen for a while yet) I'll have to give them to Goodwill. Once I'm sure of the shipping costs I'll start listing the titles and asking prices. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Jesse:
You can do this for USPS shipping by using a combination of a localized Postal Zone Chart and a weight/zone/cost matrix for the type of shipping you are using.
First go to this site to generate and print the Zone Chart based on your local zip code:
http://postcalc.usps.gov/Zonecharts/default.asp
Then go to this site and determine the postage cost to the destination zone using an approximate weight of 1.5 pounds per disc:
http://pe.usps.gov/text/dmm300/ratesandfees.htm
A short ways down that page note that Media Mail doesn't even use zones, so for that type of shipping you can determine shipping cost on weight alone.
Here's the same page in PDF format:
