Check out the picture on this EBay auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330212002570&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBUAA:US:1123
The disc on top is Vestron's "Fort Apache: The Bronx" with a different cover than I've ever seen- the "rainbow" around the cover art is missing, the Vestron logo at the bottom is printed slightly higher and has the "Insert Other End In Player" message also. I bid on the lot just to get this disc but someone outbid me at the last minute. Does anyone else have this title with this cover variation they'd be willing to sell?
Another variation I'm looking for is the MGM version of "The Dirty Dozen" with just the word "STEREO" indicated at the bottom, without the CX Noise Reduction logo that my copy has. A few MGM stereo titles had covers with stereo indicated both ways like this- others I've got include "Secret Policeman's Other Ball" and "Victor Victoria". _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Got one from another Ebay seller. Haven't watched it yet, but the spine is white and in the style of Vestron's later titles, the back cover has the same text but is also white instead of the black and rainbow border like the older disc. The catalog numbers, barcodes and copyright dates are the same, though the changes were probably made in 1984 or 1985. This is the only time I've seen a Vestron title with a re-done cover; a few of the 20th Century Fox Video titles were re-done with the newer CBS/FOX Video logo on the cover instead, and a couple MGM/CBS covers were also re-done with the MGM/UA logo.
What should be interesting is if the actual disc content is any different- I have 3 of the older ones (I'm looking to sell the extra 2 if anyone wants them) and they all continue to play for a few seconds after the very end of the program material on side 2, and you can hear a beep before the player goes into End mode. I'm wondering if that was fixed on this newer disc- will check it out as soon as I have time. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |
