I have inherited this machine from my dad and when we plugged it up and tried to turn it on, there is no power. We can't even see if it will play the discs until we can get it to turn on. We are clueless on what to do next...we checked the wires going from the power button to see if maybe one was broken or something, but the wires seem to be fine and the fuse on the power supply isn't blown. Any ideas?

Have you checked all the fuses? If I remember correctly, this model has several fuses. I had the same problem with an SFT-100 years ago. The fuses looked fine, but then I found another one (somewhere under the turntable, I believe), a slow-blow-type, and it was badly burned. I never got a chance to find out what caused it, but I think the main transformer may have gone out on that particular player.
