I installed the cooling fan mod in my SKT 400 as per your instructions at http://www.cedmagic.com/tech-info/400-fan-install/400-fan-install.html. Thanks for all the great information and for providing a great solution to the problem. However, I had just one tiny problem with the modification. I used a 12V fan, and when powering it from TP6103 (+12V) as suggested, it introduced a humming noise into the audio output of the player. I could tell it was coming from the fan because if I manually slowed down the fan with my finger, the pitch of the hum would change proportionally. I was using a brushless computer fan, so this was something I had not expected.

What I did instead was to power it from what I believe is TP2002 on the main board. The stake is simply labeled "+10V" and has 2 white wires soldered to it already. Powering the 12V fan from this test point does not induce a hum in the audio and has the added benefit of reduced noise inside the case because the fan does not spin as fast. The fan noise bothered me a little when running the fan from a full 12V as intended, but with the 10V supply I don't even notice it unless I'm right next to the player.
