| While looking throughout the cedmagic.com web site, I have noticed that there used to be a section of the web site called "CED Digest." It is still here, but there has been nothing new added to it in several years. Does any one know what it was? Perhaps one of the "old-timers" on the forum or web site can explain it to me? I am just curious. |

| Hey, i'm curious too! I would love to see it started back up and brought current. In the last 2 years, there have been several new members who have joined, who would enjoy it. |

The basics of what it was about is in the first paragraph of the "CED Digest and CED Forum" page:
"CED Digest is a weekly email list that since 1996 has provided a means for people interested in CED VideoDiscs and players to communicate with one another. CED Digest has now been combined with a CED Forum that permits messages to be posted and replied to immediately, rather than just on a weekly basis."
Before this forum existed, we all communicated by emailing a listserv which would relay messages out to the whole group, much like a Yahoo group or similar. Tom would roll up all the emails weekly and send out a summary to those who were on the list, and then compiled all of them on the CED Digest page.
We still get the weekly summaries (and if you don't, contact Tom), but since it is only a digest of what's been posted here and all those messages are therefore all automatically archived here Tom gave up on the PDF archives at the site - which makes sense to me considering the extra work involved in anthologizing what is already collected here at the forum.
Hope that helps! |
