|
|
Thanks to Tom for releasing the Quicktime version of CED Player and Disc Production or Quicktime Movie Tour, showing how CEDs and the players were made. (If you haven't seen it, check it out.)
I am interested in the same material transferred to DVD-R format (obviously for higher resolution and detail). I believe the only place to get that clip on CED is on the "Memories of Videodisc", is that correct?
Anyone own the original CED who can do a transfer to DVD? Cost?
Thanks!

harrison_bassist,
Boy, for an "underpaid cook" you sure paid a lot of money for that alignment disc!
Email me with your address and tell me how to send something to Canada, and I'll send you a copy of "Memories of Videodisc" on DVD.

Matt, is it possible to get a DVD also? I will of course also pay for the effort and shipping costs. Thanks! Tom |

A big thanks to Smokey Pond for these transfers. I got mine today, very nicely labeled and cover sleeves in the jewel case. Although I haven't been able to watch it yet I'm very exited to have it now.
Thanks again Smokey Pond! _________________ Also a video game collector. |

The manufacturing tour was originally on an RCA Video Communications disc sent out to dealers in 1983, sadly I've never been able to get my hands on one of those.
Does anyone know why the Memories disc has a couple sections where the sound is only on the left channel (when played on an SGT player at least), and forces the automatic players (like the SJT's and Hitachis) to mono during those parts? I transferred mine to DVD played on the SGT-250 so the left-channel-only sound is preserved, though that player cuts off the "End Of Side 1" message at the end of side 1. Someday when I get ambitious I'll edit that in from another player for the definitive DVD edition. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

In addition to the audio problems, there are numerous video transfer sync problems that show up throughout the disc, especially during the 'Historical Perspectives' slide show on Side 1. The first 10 or 15% of the top of the images is pulled to the right. You can even see it in Tom's screen captures.
I thought about correcting all of these issues, but then I decided to leave it as is, so that others could see it just as the RCA folks would have when they received it.
