ok, here is a new wrinkle. First I am far from being a technician. so my abilities are limited.

The unit that seems to work the best is the Zenith VP2000. It does what I said above, however. If you advance the cartridge during loading forward a bit, so say it starts on track 10, then it plays fine. At this point, you can back up to track 1 and it will be fine. The trouble is getting the unit to start, go past track 1 by itself, that is when it gets stuck.

If it was a worn servo belt, wouldnt it have other problems?

It's the belt...What happens is the belt sits so long it looks like a egg when removed,and then it hits that spot and hangs..Change the belt...you'll be fine...
