New member here. I have always had a certain fascination with CEDs. A few of my friends had them "back in the day". I'm seriously considering starting my own collection.
I collect older video game consoles and games. Unlike most collectors, I have purchased everything I own locally. I've never resorted to eBay. So I'll likely keep my eyes open for a CED player and discs that I can pick up nearby.
I was wondering if there are any CED titles that have never been released in a more modern format - DVD, Blu-Ray, etc. If there are some titles, does anyone have a list? I realize that things like the Aloha discs would be CED only. What about some of the movies, concerts, etc. |

Abso....lutely start a ced collection! haha!
Don't get me wrong but I have never understood why people are so anti ebay purchase... I've done hundreds and have only had two maybe 3 go bad and they got resolved no problem!
My god I wish someone had a list of ced only titles, I'd assume at this point only jesse, rix or tom know what is ced only hahahah! _________________ I dont own

Welcome to CEDmagic awhite2600! It is amazing how many people become intrigued about our little format! I would venture to guess that all the people I talk to in a regular day maybe 1 out of 10 ever even heard of it. It's amazing how addictive collecting this format becomes. I bought my first player in 82 and got out of them in about 85 or so. I was a lurker here for a few years, but didn't get back into the habit until Fall of 2010. I am now proud owner of 8 players, and about 700-800 CEDs As far as Ebay, I agree with Blindfury, I've never been burned because PayPal takes care of me! Jays Recyclery is a great place to pic up brand new, in the original cellophane. I would say it will be most difficult to find many discs in most places. I live in Louisville, and in the last almost 2 years, I have only found 2 discs!!! I have searched too. it is fun finding the Rare, Very Rare & Extremely Rare ones too! There is a complete list in alphabetic list here on this site. I read somewhere the Terry Fox Story was only on CED, Also, Workout with Jane Fonda was mode for this format, i'm not sure if was ever put on any other format. The best way of finding CEDs locally, would be Craig's list. I had to drive 75 miles when I bought my first player, it had 35 movies with it. Good luck to you. _________________ 1000 titles

Actually The Betsy made it to DVD. Jane Fonda's Workout was made by RCA Videodiscs but was also released on laserdisc from Pioneer Artists (how's that for irony?) and VHS and Beta from Karl Lorimar. All copies on all formats show "An RCA Videodiscs Production" in the credits. The Eurythmics Sweet Dreams video is similar.
There are of course a number of movies on CED that also came out on VHS but not DVD or laserdisc. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm going to look at some local advertising sites...Craigslist, Kijiji, etc...at least to start. If I can find a working player and some discs I may resort to eBay if the bug bites hard enough.
It's really funny that someone should mention the Jane Fonda Workout. I have an original copy of this title...on Beta! My mother bought it back in the 80's. Our family bought a Sony Beta Hi-Fi VCR just after they came out. I still have the VCR but sadly it doesn't work well. I guess I just have a weakness for "underdog formats". |
