Consumer electronics manufacturer Oppo, known for their high-end DVD and Blu-Ray Disc players, has announced that they will be selling a new 2012 model CED (Capacitance Electronic Disc) videodisc player. It will include a newly-designed stylus pickup for skip-free playback and also capable of playing discs set to be released later this year that include true 1080P high-definition video and 7.1 channel uncompressed digital audio.
"The Hunger Games" from Lionsgate is slated to be the first high-definition CED videodisc title released later this year. A standard 4x3 edition will also be released for viewing on older CED players, making it the first CED videodisc release in over 25 years.

Even though I realized the date Jesse, you announced it so well, and with the reports of LPs being released again, for a brief moment I let my mind wander for just a fraction of a second.
