| I got an SFT-100 player...it powers up, the discs load but it doesnt play. i took the top off and the disc is spinning but no picture. I took the stylus out and not sure what it should look like (the stylus itself that is) all i see is a thin piece of copper looking metal..how can i tell if its the stylus or of its something else? What should i be looking for? |

You're going to need to either test the player with a known good stylus, and/or test that stylus out on a player that is a known good player.
That's usually the 1st step in determining if it's a bad stylus problem or bad player problem. |

| I got a 2nd player today that now has a disc stuck in it that i cant get out...i took the stylus out of it and put it in the original player i bought a week or so ago. It plays the disc but the picture is red and green and kinda looks like the old VHS that had the macrovision in them...when you tried to record one and it was discolored...is this a stylus issue or does it sound like something else? Can anyone give me some tips or something to check and also how do i get the disc out of the other one? It was like the case would stick halfway in them it took the disc but now the case wont go all the way in to get the disc out...and it does make quite a bit of noise when it is turning the disc....I can send a video of the problems if anyone is willing to help me....i have wanted one of these since it came out when i was in 10th grade...... |

Ist player that has oddball picture sounds like it's needing a new drive belt and lube maybe, see here:
http://www.cedmagic.com/tech-info/repair-solutions.html#improper-turntable-speed
At least you know now that you had a bad stylus initially.
2cnd player probably has some issues with internal latch and/or stylus arm not retracting. Try this:
With the player off, see if you can see the stylus arm through the hatch door, and if you can, try to move it manually to the back of the player in it's non-playing postiion. If you can, then place the lever in load position and see if you can insert the disc caddy to take the disc out.
While you may get a cheap price on a player form an ebay seller who really doesn't know much about these players, in the long run it's better to get a good operating player from a knowledgable person such as Blindfury, even if it's a little more cost.
Unless of course the fun is in the repairing of them for you. |
