There is a guy who lives by me that has been trying to sell a collection for an insane amount of money (in my opinion) for almost a year. I tried some lower offers last spring, but didn't get the approval for purchase.
From what I remember I was sent a picture of this collection too and they were stacked horizontally.
Some people think these things are worth more than gold!
Sorry if this is someone's collection who frequents here.

Maybe it should be listed "selling by the pound" 50cents a pound might get better attention, until somebody calculates it _________________ Scott

I like that whole "My client..." baloney on a craigslist free ad.
Sure, a real professional here with some sort of swanky office like Perry Mason and a list of clientele who are chock full of antiques and collectibles ready for Sotheby's Auctions, but he wants to test the local craigslist first. |

"Lord of the Rings" did once sell for about $125 back in 1998. But I believe that was due to a bidding war between two LOTR collectors in the early days of eBay.

Ha, the guy is obviously confusing CED players with LD or DVD players. What a character, but what can be expected from one who knows little.
Player might even work fine in the hands of one who knows what to do. But price is more than double a fair price. |

I actually bought a 400 from this fellow for that same price, and poor packing caused it to arrive wrecked. After I sent photos and told him it was only worth about $20 for parts, he refunded the rest, so that was okay.
But this one, the only belt is the function motor belt, not a big deal, but would the plastic transport be a gear, or the tab that raises the disc lift lever? Really just another $10 or $20 player. |

Well, if it seems that the problem is a relatively minor one, I'll gladly pick up a 400 anyday.
Just that poor packing wrecked this one, it was supposed to only be a bad function belt. The it arrived with wrecked case and front face, jammed on switch etc. |

I like their statement of "we don't expect to get top dollar" uhmmmm, you want $145 vs a more reasonable $10 _________________ Scott

I have two of those Selectavision split assembly RCA VCRs left from the shop, one gray and one black. They're way too complicated and too compact inside to really work on well. I'd be glad to get $10 for both. the regular RCA selectavision home unit VCR is a much better unit.
I also have most of those 225 laserdiscs that fellow wants $10,000 for, and probably could only get between $1 to $10 for most of them individually. Talk about two people living on another planet. |

Notice at the bottom the ad: Format- VHS
I can't fault people for picking up cheap and turning a profit, but you don't disclose what you originally paid. Doubt he will ever see anywhere near that figure, it will be fun to see how many weeks he goes with it though. _________________ Scott

I bought a big lot of almost 300 titles for $50 a few months ago and all the discs were like new. A copy of Nana was in there.
Hmm, who'd have known it was so valuable?! |

Yeah, the one thing that never really went up in value of still-sealed Star Wars fame are the CEDs, LDs, and videotapes.
Lucas was smart to take the toys and other stuff. |
