There may be someone here who's not too far from you, but maybe you can tell us a little about what the problem is?

I'm pretty sure it's the belt(s) and it's gummed up from being in storage. I actually have two of these players and damaged one trying to get it apart. Rather than causing damage to the other one I'd like to find someone locally that might be able to get it up and running.

I see. Would you be okay in shipping it to a nearby state?

Hi Robert. WELCOME TO CEDMAGIC! I used to be terrified to even take the top off my players. I have a step by step "How to" for removing the gummed belt and goo, and how to but the new belt back on. It is really very very simple. If you want, I can get you a copy. Just let me know, and I'll get you one. You can get the belt here on this site for a dollar. Whatever you decide to do, GOOD LUCK WITH IT!!! _________________ 1000 titles

The SJT series are pretty easy to work on. The cover just slips off after you remove the two screws at the back, and access to the gooey belt is also quite easy.
Tom's got a great guide here which includes a link to his items for sale (belts, etc).
I second Tom's suggestion of having some Goo-Gone handy. If the belt is mush it's like trying to remove a glob of shoe polish. Gets on everything. |

Thanks for the info and instructions. I have it up and running. I actually have three players. Two are for parts. I thought the belt was under the turntable, but once I saw where it was at it was simple to replace. It was no picnic removing the goo though.

Maybe you can take your two parts players and make one good player out of them, and still have plenty of parts leftover?
