As I said in another thread, I'm catalogging all my CEDs and it dawned on me that I have watched less than half of the CEDs I own! I use my CED players a lot, but I seem to watch a lot of the same ones. I know Jesse has all the CEDs and many of the collectors who have been in this format for years, like Deanjeep, who actually never left it. I began to think about all the different CEDs I own, many of them that just came with a batch.
So, who collects just to collect? and who collects to wach? Or maybe we do both. Smile.

Now that's a tough one.... I've watched maybe 10% of mine, I also buy/watch in spurts. Right now I'm on a LaserDisc binge- been watching and buying steadily for a month or so.

I like to buy sets of movies. For example, in the laserdisc format, I have all 4 of the Lethal Weapon series, all 4 of the Alien series, 8 of the Star Trek series, etc. With the help of Beetlescott, I should have all of the CED's of the Pink Panther movies that were pressed.. I am starting to collect CED's of music concerts now.

J have yet to watch all the CEDs we have. And I just got some sealed ones still unopened.

We have about 6,000 LDs and have watched about 1/3 of them.

It's impossible to watch every movie ever made, so we're giving up on most newer releases, except ones I'm sure I'd enjoy. I hardly ever see one that I like anyway and end up selling the DVDs after watching them.

For example, I got the DVD of the new Journey to the Center of the Earth, and it was lousy. I almost puked at how rottom of a plot it had. I realized I'd much rather have spent the time watching the 1959 version, and/or re-watching the 1951 movie Unknown World, which was based on the Verne story, and isn't a bad movie at all.

But not all new movies are so bad. I liked Land of the Lost.

Also, since I only use the antenna, we don't have cable to compete for the time anyway. But now I get to see all the episodes of shows like The Rifleman or Bonanza, that I never saw before.

Except for 11 CED's still in cellophane, I have watched all of collection at least once.

My "New" CED's are:

Between the Lines
Falling in Love Again
For a Few Dollars More
Heidi (Vestron)
Mother Lode
My Dinner with Andre
Pinocchio
Viva Las Vegas
Where's Poppa
Whose Life is it Anyway?
Without a Trace

Wow... Surprised
I'm very jealous. Finding LDs around here is next to impossible. Other than 17 copies each of Jurassic Park, Crimson Tide, Patriot Games and etc at each and every single shop around here, thrift stores and swap meets rarely turn up any finds. I regularly check the local second hand shops all around town, and sometimes in Phoenix, and yet have purchased only about 20 or so additional LDs in the past several years. Sad

Well, I find some on ebay, and on craigslist, but they are more common in So Calif than where you are. But it's perfictly legit to search the craigslist of another location. A fellow In Illinois bought an certain LD player from me I had on craigslist because he couldn't find it locally.

Then I also go to some other internet dealers that have their own websites and buy whenever they have a sale.

Just do a search for "Laserdiscs for sale" and a bunch of different places will show up.

Laserdisc Vault is one place I buy from, but only when he has a sale and then I get enough to get a bigger discount and free shipping. Otherwise he's a but pricey.

On the LDDB.com, there's many stores set up for LD sales too.

I have an idea for you. I live in Louisville, KY and I went to a Half Price Book store, and they had a crate full of LDs. Also, I don't know where you live, but we also went to a "Peddlers Mall" a type of an antique mall, in Lexington, KY, and one guy had a booth with dozens of LDs, many unopened. I think they were pricey, at 15.00 each, but there was a nice amount of them. The Half Price Book Store had a better deal, but I don't remember exactly how much.

I collect to watch. There are about 20 that Ive never seen that either came w/ my 1st player, came in lots I bought for another CED that I have watched, or are unplayable. I have about 130 movies (not discs) altogether.

I do have a couple of collections. I have all of the old James Bond 007 movies (through A View to Kill) and I'm trying to collect all of the Alfred Hitchcock movies that came out on CED.

Only 10 Hitchcock movies were released on CED for some reason...and I am missing 3 of those.

I have:
Psycho
Vertigo
Rear Window
The 39 Steps
Dial M for Murder
North by Northwest
Strangers on a Train

I am missing:
Notorious
Spellbound
The Birds

Sorry..just got off on a tangent there... Razz
