I have an idea. It's like a light bulb over my head:). Rivrex and I were talking, or posting here about the Caddy sometimes is very nice, while the disc itself isn't worth a crap. Maybe the child smeared peanut butter on it or something. I have 2 good extra Caddys of Psycho, but only one decent disc. I also have some more that I'm saving with the possibility of maybe finding a movie that has a much less than perfect caddy. I was thinking maybe we could be post what we have a nice Caddy of? Any thoughts? _________________ 1000 titles

I don't have very many, but i'll get the nice caddies together and if anyone here needs one, it will go to whoever asks for it first. _________________ 1000 titles

I think this is a good forum topic that should be in place as a regular "sticky" topic (or something distinct and separate from the main 'general' discussion boards) where we can just list our selection and then recheck the list it anytime later as needed. And postings in the topic that are off-subject should be removed or moved by a moderator.
I also think an adjunct topic would be the "Extra disc or Missing a disc of a two disc set". It is tough to keep track of whenever somebody mentions a list they have of extras or looking for one because the topic eventually gets lost way down the line, or gets clutterd up with non-topic conversations.
Is there any way to do these two? |

We would need an admin or moderator to come in and make a specific thread and sticky it or them to read a thread and sticky that. To do this we need Tom, as he seems to be the only one who runs or has access to those powers on this great site. I often wish we could get some threads stickied like if you must, the proper way to clean a disc... not the caddy. Then there is a nice "f.a.q." kinda thing at the top of the forums for everyone to see before they scroll down and look/search or try to make a new thread. _________________ I dont own

I was glad to see the two "sticky" subjects that have been added to the forum, but in watching them, I realized there's a problem that might need addressing.
By having the two categories as "sticky" subjects within the "General" category on the Forum Index, it causes somewhat the same problem I mentioned before, that being the cluttering of the topic with tangiential issues and discussions. Plus any added posts get pushed down further and further, eventually cancelling out their visibility.
I'm thinking these two "sticky" subjects are good, but the group might be better served if they were reformulated as Topic Headings just as is the "General" heading, right below that same General heading, and as distinct subtopic headings directly within the 'Discussion Forum Index'.
Then each of us could post our lists as separate and distinct threads from each other, and newly posted threads would cause a thread to become primary. And this would also allow easy editing and adjustment of lists, and the posted conversations would be applicable to that one member's particulars as well.
Something kind of like what the LDDB forum has done in separating categories. Sorry to become the Devil's Advocate or a spoiler here and I don't mean any disrespect of the implementation of this nice addition, but is this something that can be looked at? Or am I out of line here or asking for too much? |
