I got something very nice in the mail yesterday!!!!!! The Monkees, and Amos & Andy! I have enjoyed the goofiness and cornyness of the Monkees show so much, especially since they are touring for their 45th anniversary! Pretty good considering Davy & Micky fired Peter Tork back in 2001 and he vowed he would never sing with his "brothers" again. They have all said that from one time to another, but they are doing a great job (according to several of the critics are saying) I'm enjoying this walk down memory lane...Thanks again Oregon Scott!!!!! Be looking in the mail for a package. Send me an email and tell me if you are looking for anything besides B.G., let me know..... _________________ 1000 titles

Yes, I did and I gave the seller specific instructions on packing it to survive the trip.
It's a pretty good film overall, low-cost Canadian production. The kind I like watching late night. Wm Shatner is uncommonly low-key here which is good and Michael Ironside is perfect as the murdeous stalker. |

Yes, this is the first movie I ever saw Michael Ironside in. I bought the CED way back in 83, because of Shatner, being the Trekkie I am, but Ironside was killler in this movie. I saw, and enjoyed him in Scanners, and then V The Final Conflict miniseries. _________________ 1000 titles

If you're a fan of Ironside, you must see it, and the bugs, man what bugs!
Also, Troopers Part 2 is a good throwback to the Sci-Fi horror of the 50s. |

I never saw Starship Troopers |
By the way, you get a Laserdisc player and I have an extra copy of Starship Troopers that can go your way.
In fact, it's not a bad thing to do, so you can complete your CEDs with such things as
the first Halloween movie, and 4, 5, 6 and H2O
most of the rest of the Friday the 13th movies
Godfather Part 3
Ghostbusters 2
You get the idea, the list goes on and on...
And if you prefer to keep it like a CED viewing experience, just get a vintage LD player and the Pan & Scan versions. They're cheaper usually anyway. |

AH, I see. We finished watching " Oh God" on CED, I'm on a John Denver kick. When I start to put a movie in, she always ask if I have "preplayed" this one. LOL We watched Gone With the Wind this past weekend, and I didn't get a chance to "preplay" it. It had some typical quirks on it. _________________ 1000 titles

Yes, I believe you were the one who told me about some of the LVPs that changed sides without having to flip them. _________________ 1000 titles

Sorry guys, the year 2001 was the last year of LD production and release, here's the list of the last US LDs released in 2000 (no releases in the US in 2001):
Thomas Crown Affair, The (1999) 2000-01-04
American Pie (1999) 2000-01-11
Trekkies (1997) 2000-01-11
South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut (1999) 2000-01-18
Mother's Day (1980) 2000-01-18
Bowfinger (1999) 2000-02-01
Mystery Men (1999) 2000-02-01
General's Daughter, The (1999) 2000-02-01
Runaway Bride (1999) 2000-02-29
Wood, The (1999) 2000-02-29
Bone Collector, The (1999) 2000-03-14
Double Jeopardy (1999) 2000-03-14
For Love of the Game (1999) 2000-04-04
End of Days (1999) 2000-04-18
Bringing Out the Dead (1999) 2000-10-03
Sleepy Hollow (1999) 2000-10-03
Of those I have been able to get American Pie, Bone Collector and Sleepy Hollow. which was tough to find at an affordable price. Bringing Out the Dead and Sleepy Hollow were a special Halloween release, notice they are several months after the others. There were about 300 LDs released in Japan or Hong Kong in 2000.
There were 16 LDs released in 2001 in Japan, and 2 released in Hing Kong.
The very last LD release was the Japanese release of X-Men on 2-23-2001, bringing an end to the LD era, but not an end to the technology, which lives on in DVD form, nor an end to obsolete formats which gained new members with Digital VHS and HD DVD, which has over 900 titles.
Players were still made by Pioneer for a while longer than that, with the DVL series of combo LD/DVD players at the fore. A series of really great quality players.
Anyway, there's no reason for the spouse to get upset, most LD prices are really low, and it can just fill out what you already have on CED. LD jackets are nice too, mostly. |

I won't say 2000/2001 vs 1999 is quibbling over trivial matters, but I'll strongly hint
BeetleScott- you *need* a LaserDisc player, that way you can watch George Takei (Doc Valentine) in Oblivion and Oblivion 2: Backlash _________________ Scott

I would love to get an LV player, but at the risk of my wife murdering me on the spot, I have to wait for a while, after we get moved. _________________ 1000 titles

Okay, maybe I got too long-winded about it, but it's not really quibbling over trivial matters since the matter was important enough to bring forth a question.
The answer may as well be correct, wouldn't you say? |

Do you like Star Trek? There is a fan based movie called Of Gods & Men, the FX are not very good, but the movie is actually pretty good. It has Uhura, & Chekov in it, and if you ever saw the movies, From Generations, Captain Harriman, of the Enterprise B also plays in it. The movie takes 2 of the old episodes and makes a darn good movie. _________________ 1000 titles
