Is your Barry Manilow Special disc in true stereo? My copy lights up the "Stereo" indicator, but there's no separation at all- on a Pro-Logic system, all the sound comes through the center channel. I wonder if this was produced in mono and they just encoded a Stereo signal on the disc and thought nobody would notice the difference? _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

I'm glad you asked me this! I apparently have my SGT250 hooked up wrong, I couldn't even get the light to come on for ANY disc!!! I tried both my Manilow disc and my Thriller one. However, when I popped both of them in my SJT400, the Thriller disc worked great, the Manilow disc however, only played through the center channel!!! _________________ 1000 titles

I thought you mentioned that problem before- you need to set the switch on the back of the player to "NORMAL", not "AUDIO A" or "B". I don't know why they put that control on the back, but it's for 'dual-audio' discs. The 2nd audio track is actually encoded out-of-phase, so you don't hear it when you play the disc in mono which is what it does when it's set to A. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Jesse, you are right! I had forgotten about that. I moved it to another TV for a while, and recently put it back. Thanks for jarring the old mans memory:). _________________ 1000 titles

OK Jesse, I have put my SGT250 back on "normal" mode, and the stereo light came on, and there was some sound seperation on prologic,. I haven't had the chance to watch the entire disc, but I will in the next few days. I got First & Farewell which shows some of Manilows first stuff and his last tour that was in 2004. _________________ 1000 titles

Is it any good? I'm not into musicals, I can't imagine Robin Williams in a musical. Can you tell me a little bit about it? _________________ 1000 titles

It's decent. Entertaining enough for 2 hours and being Robin Williams' first starring movie role. You can tell he was trying to find his niche.
Basically Popeye is searching for his dad and ends up on an island where he meets Olive Oil. The songs are written by Harry Nilsson, so they're good and quirky. |

Speaking of Harry Nilsson, I rememeber When Peter Tork left the Monkees (he came back years later to join the 20th anniversary) When there was just Davy & Micky, they starred in Nilson's The Point. Got good reviews if memory serves. _________________ 1000 titles

Just watched Woodstock for the first time- been saving this for when I had time to watch a 'long' movie since this was about 3 hours on 4 sides, though it hardly seemed long at all. I'd replaced the loading belt on my SGT-250 tonight after it had been sticking, and it worked great when I played this afterwards.
I like the note on the back cover about the use of split-screens where "two or more images may appear in the center area. This is part of the film and does not indicate that there is anything wrong with your television set. This is intentional." _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

I watched Risky Business, Silkwood, Capricorn One. Unfortunately I have packed all my CEDs and players away. There won't be anymore until we get moved. I hope I survive!!! _________________ 1000 titles

Just watched JANE FONDAS WORKOUT.
The DUAL SOUNDTRACK feature was a nice idea for its time (1982). |

It has been a few WEEKS since I have been able to watch a disc!!! However, we are finally bought our house, and have been moved for 9 days. We are still tripping over boxes, I haven't even unpacked my CEDs yet. I do have a good place to store tthem though, i'm exited to be up and running by the weekend. I have several movies I got for my birthday in July before the roller coaster of purchasing a house started! I'm looking forward to watching them. _________________ 1000 titles

CHRISTINE Am I making up for lost time, or what? I have my SGT250 and my SJT400 players hooked up with my home theater. I have always said the SGT250 has a clearer, crisper picture than the SJT400. Now it seems that if you have skips in your discs, the SJT400 works harder at getting them out, and are better. Surprisingly I have watched 3 or 4 movies on my SGT250 and Honestly it has played PERFECTLY each time. Yesterday I was watching Silver Bullet and expecting sine skips. There were none!!! I dont know if moving the players caused the player to work better or not, but I am thrilled!!! I am now 22 minutes in my Christine (one of my very favorite Horror movies) AH Ah, so many movies, so little time! _________________ 1000 titles

OK, Since we are getting settled, I'm on a CED roll. I decided to get an early start on scary movies. I have watched Poltergeist (thank you deenjeep), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (both versions) Christine, Silver Bullet, I just finished watching Halloween II and now switched over to DVD to watch Halloween H20. Up next: Frankenstein, then Dead Zone, Villiage of the Damned. I have Scanners that I haven't seen in years, but it was in terrible shape. I decided to trash it. _________________ 1000 titles
