How much would it cost to ship a player from the UK to the US? My Pioneer receiver can take a PAL signal and display it on my TV (verified with a DVD player in PAL mode) so it'd be cool to have a PAL player. The only PAL CED I have is "Dolly In London" which I got from someone in the US. On my SGT-250 it spins up and the Stereo indicator lights but it won't play. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

I may be getting a batch of movies with some music discs in them. If I do, I may have some of the music CEDs. I'll keep you all posted. _________________ 1000 titles

These guys are in the UK and looking for the PAL format discs- that "Video Hits" disc wasn't released in NTSC so it's one title I'd get a PAL player for. Thomas Dolby's "Live Wireless" was issued on PAL CED also- I have a DVD copy of the laserdisc, but the CED would still be cool to have. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Basically there's 2 different TV standards in the world, NTSC and PAL. Some countries use one, others use the other (there's also SECAM but I don't know a lot about it- I've heard it's similar to PAL and material in that format is compatible with it, but I could be wrong.) For analog playback devices, they support one or the other which is why UK CEDs won't play on US players and vice versa. (There are a few "universal" VHS machines which will play any type of tape, though some require a TV that can also handle every standard.) DVDs are kind of weird- they still have the 2 different standards, but some players will convert PAL to NTSC (usually at the wrong frame rate) or just output it as-is.
TVs in America only support NTSC, but many TVs in Europe supported both PAL and NTSC. If you have a PAL device (or are in range of a TV station broadcasting in PAL) on an NTSC TV, the picture will usually display with no color and a rolling picture. Many of the newer HDTVs in the US can display PAL- on my Vizio there's some trickery involved though. I tested a DVD player in PAL mode and the TV would not display it hooked up directly, but if I hooked it up through my Pioneer receiver and converted it to HDMI it would, so I'm assuming I could use a PAL CED player also. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Took me ages to find the videohits disc.
Eventually got videohits, videostars and videotheque in a huge bundle of discs.
Thomas Dolby - live wireless took a lot of hunting down too. |

Hello, I'm Scott. I mainly collect toys and it was because of that that I found my first CED's at a Toy Show in 2010. I picked them up because they looked interesting and I figured at the very least I'd have large prints of movie artwork.
Recently found an SFT100 at Goodwill and now I'm looking to get it fixed up and try out some of these CED's I have. (I'll probably start looking for a few other titles too ) |

| Hello my name is Joe. I think it was in 1985 I was working for Pickwick Distribution in North Hollywood, Ca. We were rack jobbing all prerecorded entertainment into stores. Woolco, Zodys, Gemco, Wards Sears, etc. I won a SFT 100 player from RCA and started collecting the discs. Later I was employed by Eurpak Distribution in San Diego. They supplied the military outlets with music and movies and accessoraries. That is where I got the bulk of my titles, 65. I have not used the player for over 15 years but am getting the urge to see if it still works. My big collection now is vinyl records looking to find 45's with original picture sleeves. It is a blast finding old record stores in my travels. Seems most owners are old hippies, Vets, or collectors themselves. I sure have many stories but I found this thread and wanted to say HI! Joe in Carefree, AZ. |

Hello, Scott! Welcome! I'm Scott too! Beetlescott, Alchemy is Scott also, we have plenty of Scotts to go around. Good luck with fixing up your SFT100 the original RCA Selecta Vision Video disc player. Perhaps as you become more familar with CED players & Discs, you will want to find a stereo and infra red remote! The white discs are (mostly) recorded in mono, and the blue ones are stereo. They aren't DVDs, but they are very durable, and fun! I purchase a disc that has been sitting around since the 80s, pop it in the player, and it plays like new! Thats not bad for 80s technology! _________________ 1000 titles

Basically I collect a lot of vintage video game and Arcade stuff
and was going to start collecting CEDs I have a large set of these

If any one is interested in these let me know.

Also having a love for collecting my self I would rather see them go to people would appreciate them.
If some one wants them I will give them a screaming deal.
