OK, I lost an SGT250 new sealed in the box, to a bidder who bid in the last 20 seconds, a guy who hadn't bid at all! Anyway, I did something I usually don't do, I bid more than I wanted to spend! I felt like I lost control. I had mixed feelings when I didn't win. I was grateful, because I had over bid.
Has anyone else in here gotten carried away with something you really wanted on Ebay? Wanna share your story?

There's been a few electronics I set my limit of XXX and it starts bidding up, I decide I can go a little more. Then I start to question 'is it really worth it to me' I decide -no. I generally check previous auctions to get an idea of where I want to be.
I've watched Equalizers go for $20 with 2 bidders and then a month later a feeding frenzy with 20 bids and it goes for 200..... it's still only worth 50-75 to me though

Yeah, I understand. Back before Christmas I listed some movies. Most went for the average price, but with one, there was a bidding war that went on for several days, and a very common CED, in Like New conditon, went for over 30 dollars!!! It is all about timing. However, I consider myself, and my fellow CED'rs parked here at CEDmagic, to be serious collectors of this format, and we all know it is about timing.

Indeed it is about timing and a bit of luck. Sometimes the item description just doesn't show up in a standard search, like finding a player listed as a laser player. Others might not see it and you could end up picking up a real bargain, been there and done that.

Have I ever gotta carried away and bid high or way too much for an item? I don't think so, I go on the basis that there will be another one that will come along and maybe I will get it for less. I guess a lot of it has to do with how much you need it now, or just how rare the item is, especially if you have been tracking them over the course of a year or so.

IT is all part of the fun, the hunt!

You are right, there will always be another one down the road!!! I got distracted buy the "sealed in box". I thought how many more I would see still in the box. I think this is how they got me in. I usually go in with a price in my mind. I have paid a little more than I intended to on some of my Trek goodies, but not big items like this.
