Wow!
I don't think I've ever seen anything get that crazy before. Even stuff that's actually very rare... |

Yea, thats what I hate about Ebay, people would put "RARE" in the title to drive up the price, and also do astronomical shipping prices.
I once bid on a Commodore 64 that said rare, and the shipping was $50...good thing I didn't win. Jeeze. _________________

The seller did it the right way. If you look at the bidding history the starting price was 99 cents. I'm willing to bet a few people looked at it and started rubbing their hands together thinking "oooh, I'm going to get SUCH a deal!" Then the frenzied bidding war begins - there were only four people bidding on this (resulting in 41 bids), and one of them gave up early.
In fact, I think it's one of the great things about eBay. It is always the suckers who post things for stupid prices that get nothing. Those that severely undervalue their merchandise with a low starting price/bid watch the piranha go to work and walk away with more than its worth. Nobody's got a gun to the buyer's head making them bid outrageously.
At $5.41 the shipping is entirely reasonable for a CED - considering they're a pain in the neck to ship. |

I could understand the price *IF* it was signed by the cast or something to make it have a premium, but $100 for???
Tell ya what gents- I just so happen to have a copy and I am willing to part with for a fraction of the price..... $10 + $150 shipping (international slightly higher) Any takers? _________________ Scott

It is the bidders that jacked the price that high. The seller started the auction at 99 cents, and: shipping is $5.
People go on bidding frenzies and overpay for stuff on eBay every minute of the day. The sellers who overvalue stuff (like that Radio Shack player in another thread): sure, they're deluded.
But if someone makes a crazy bid, that's the buyers fault. 100%. |

oh yeah, I for sure know it was the bidders. That's what made me sick. I already bought quite a few of seller for 99 cents. I talked to scordi and he couldn't have been happier haha! He says he's been sellin ced's on ebay since 98 and never had one go that high! _________________ I dont own

It's a lesson that bad sellers never seem to learn: few will pay attention to an item with a high starting price (and in fact just point and laugh from within forums).
However, start something at an enticingly low price and several people will convince themselves that they've got it in the bag. Once it falls out of their grasp they go berserk and start bidding irrationally.
It's worked for the few sales I've put up there, anyway. |

Sure this is a great title to have, but why would it even be WORTH that much for someone to want to pay for it? A few years ago I saw a CED of this signed by Gunnar Hansen (who played Leatherface) and I don't think it went for nearly that much!
I saw a copy of "Barbarella" go for over $20, and some of the later Playboy discs went for around that much too- I had to keep trying to get those for a reasonable price! (At least those are pretty dated and won't be on any modern format.) _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |
