Just got this player on Ebay and I have a problem.
I can see that the loading belt is sticking to itself and not operating properly.
Problem 2 is that the the player model isn't listed on the site so I don't know which size belt I need to order to replace it.
Any ideas guys? |

All the Hitachi bulit players are the easiest to work on. I have replaced the belts on more than ten of them. You only have to replace the two small belts, the cogged timing belt usually does not have to be replaced. I have never had to replace one.
If the loading mechanism is niether in the full up or full down position then after you replace the belt just turn the pully with your finger until it is in the full up load position. If it is neither up or down then the player will not operate.
I have aquired two of these players with a disc still inside the player because the load belt was so weak that it failed during the load sequence and stopped half way down and the disc could not be extracted.

I had to replace the timing belt on my hitachi.
Ive noticed that the plastic tab that holds the roller that turns the disc loading cog in place has a habit of breaking off on these players. All 3 players ive got are like this.
One player ive got wont eject the disc to the fully up position after new belts have been fitted, i cant work out why, ive turned the cog manually and reset the loading mech fully up, plugged the player in, loaded the disc, disc players fine, hit stop, disc lifts up and falls short of being fully up.
Any ideas why this is? |

wilson_2523 - are you also after any discs once you get your player up and running.
I have tons of duplicates, some still sealed if you are interested.
Would do you a much better deal than the stupid £3.99, £4.99 and even £24.99 prices uk ebay sellers are trying to get at the moment.

All Hitachi built players when new came with a large thick piece of plastic that was the same width as a disc caddy. It was slid into the player just as if you were loading a disc. This was placed there to keep the loading mechanism in the up position. If the player took a hard jolt during shipping the plastic kept the loading mechanism from being forced out of position and possibly damaging the unit. This may be what has happen to your players. |

Im not sure if this is what has happend.
The mech loads fine its just unloading thats like this.
It does seem in a way the the power to the motor cuts off earlier than it should before the disc gets lifted to the correct position to be removed. |

Check to see if there is a limit switch being made to soon when the loader is on the way back up. Could be it's out of adjustment. I have had this happen on the tracking arm where the arm stops to soon and drops the stylus down and since there is no signal being received the arm returns to home position. A simple adjustment with a screw driver that allowed the arm to travel a little farther before dropping the stylus fixed the problem.
Another thing to look for during the unload sequence is when it stops to soon on the way up, is the load motor still turning and the belt is just slipping on the pully, if so something is in a bind or the belt is to big or the belt and pully are contaminated. Worst case scenario would be the motor just doesn't have enough torque any longer to raise the disc to the unload position. It takes more torque to lift the loader than to lower it.
Make sure all pivot points or slides or anything that could be in a bind is lubricated with a good lubricant that will not harm plastic. |

So much for working condition!
I managed to remove the disk that was stuck in it.
Changed the loading and arm belts.
Tested it with the case open and it seemed to be working.
Now the stylus is faulty according to the repair solutions guides on CEDMagic.
It's just not my day today

CEDatum can rebuild your worn stylus. They rebuilt one for me and it works great. |
