Ok, I am working on a project bridging the 1980s into Now. I do not know how familiar you people are with PSP (playstation portable) hacking but here is a run down of what I am itching to do. I want to use my PSP as a remote control for my SJT300 CED player. The first run models of PSP (the 1000 series) have a built in infrared sensor on the top of the unit that was never used by sony, but used extensively by homebrewers, especially with a program called "iR shell". Sadly, since it was not used by Sony, they removed the aforementioned ir Sensor from later revisions of the PSP, I have one from the 2000 series, which has no sensor.
From what I have been reading on the matter, I need to construct a IR Circuit using a red LED and standard components, and hook it through the headphone jack on the PSP, or I can trade down my PSP to a 1000 series machine.
Even then, I run into another conundrum. I have no means of teaching the PSP what signal tells the CED player to do what. To do that I need a working remote from a SJT3000 machine, which I do not have. The project can not really start till I get that remote.
Think this is a worthwhile project? _________________

Sure it would be cheaper, but not as fun. _________________

That is kinda what I figured. You would be in it for the challenge.
I have a PSP, but it is the 2000 model.
Good luck on your project!

I can see the allure in what you are attemping. However, do love the way these remotes feel in my hand:) Good luck and keep us posted!!! _________________ 1000 titles

Well its going to go through four major steps
1) Build an IR Circuit
1a) Trade my 2000 series PSP for a 1000 series
2) Install IR Shell software
3) Program Remote
4) Profit _________________

Having a tad bit of a problem getting the 1000 model PSP, the guy at gamestop wont trade down from my 2000 for some reason. He keeps on asking if I want a NGP instead. _________________

| I might also take a look at Tom's page about universal remotes for the SGT250 and SJT300. Not only does he show a few models that can work with them (saving you having to track down a working original RCA just to teach another remote), he also lists some JP1 code and resources that you might be able to shoehorn into the PSP. Good luck! |

I am still on the hunt for a PSP 1000. Since then, I made a makeshift IR circuit from an arduino board, but it was less than satisfactory. I am willing to trade my PSP 2000 with 5.50 GEN-D CFW installed for a 1000. _________________
