When your CED skips, it might have a comedic mind of its own. Some skips are just unintentionally funny. Do you have skips on your discs that crack you up?

Despite I don't own a CED player and CEDs, I have some of my favorites on YouTube.

Hi Sega, Welcome to CEDmagic!!! We have to get you into a player! The funny thing is, back when I got my very first player in 1982, I still, to this day remember where the worst skips on my favorite movie/tv episodes. In Star Wars, It was on the second side where the guy is describing the new Deathstar. " It's on a large scale assualt", and on Star Trek episode, Mirror Mirror, Scotty is explaining to Kirk about going back over to thier reality. "IT'S INCREASING, WE'VE GOT TO MOVE FAST".

Ah yes, disc skipping is just one of the charms of CEDs...

I think, If memory serves, I have only had 2 movies that had NO skips. Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan in 1982, and Friday the 13th 2 months ago. The funny thing is, the Friday disc was rough looking on the outside. The white part of the caddy was yellowed, I thought, this one will be a bad one.

I always thought the wobbling head effect was funny.
It would have been cool if Videodrome were released on CED - add skipping wobbling-head effects and it would've added to the experience.

Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan

I think this is one of the best mastered CED's I own. Great Picture. Great sound. It easily beats the VHS copy I bought in the 90's.

The only competition in my CED collection is 'Return of the Jedi', which is also mastered very well. Damn, the sound on this effer is as good, or better, than the laserdisc I have... and it flat-out destroys the 'THX' VHS copy of it I have from the 90's (which is total crap BTW).

Those are the only 2 CED's I can say I've watched without any skips. But they are both new looking. Gotta love finding a 'diamond in the rough' like your copy of Friday the 13th though!

On the other hand, a copy of "Apocalypse Now" I just got in a lot of a dozen or so had me constantly leaving my seat (yeah I know, I need to buy or construct a wired remote) every few minutes to advance the stylus past a locked groove.

When I was a kid we had Ghostbusters on disk and it was pressed so bad that Jeneane is asking Winston if he believed in the theory of atlantis, she went At-at-at-lan-lan-lan-tis-tis-tis. For some reason, that always stuck out in my mind.

The Hitachi players got stuck on skips, the RCA players would usually go past the bad spot so it didn't keep repeating.

My favorite skip is in "Ordinary People"- Timothy Hutton is telling his shrink something like:

"I just realized something."
-"What?"
- SKIP over the entire line of dialogue!
- "Wow, that's really important."

I still don't know what it was he said there.

I just finished watching my favorite movie, Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan, and the place in the movie where he asks Carol Marcus about his son, I had a little skip, so I put the "page" button. Kirk looked like he was singing with alvin and the chipmonks!!!! Hysterical! Skips are a part of the CED world, but I love em anyway!!!!

Here's one thing I could never figure out. Maybe it's just me and my discs, but it seems like any scenes in a movie with music playing, loud sound effects, etc., usually play alright, but it's pretty much always when it comes to a part where it's just two characters carrying on a dialog that it starts skipping really bad. It may be coincidence, but I've seen it so much that I often wondered if the way the sound is modulated affects the disc's tendency to skip.

I don't know, maybe you have a dirty stylus? It doesnt seem that sound should make a disc skip more. Can youer change.

I always wished that Max Headroom had made it onto CED. It is quite possibly the only show where I might not even notice the skipping.
