Is this rather high? http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/clt/2106713446.html I still don't have a real grasp of value, but his seems way the hell high.

Granted Star Wars collectors abound, but I'm thinking $10 would be closer to the truth. Maybe I'll offer him$5 and see if he takes it....

I love it when people obviously don't know what it is they're selling, but they sure know it's worth big bucks!

A 'little' high? That's like astronomically high. Has it been signed by George Lucas or something.

I'm still looking for a copy of that film myself (at a reasonable price). But I'd still wouldn't pay even a tenth of that to have it in shrink.

Perhaps that's because I like to watch my CED's. So, having it shrink wrapped doesn't add much value to me personally.

Also as someone pointed out he is probably aiming this at Star Wars collectors and not CED collectors. They might be a little more liberal with there purchases because they are collecting for different reasons. However, I still can't imagine someone anywhere on earth willing to pay tat much for something so.. well... 'worthless' to the general population.

Alchemy, I saw that ad on Craigslist. Outrageous price of course for a disc that was produced in great numbers. This also goes for Star Wars. New in the wrap helps the price significantly for a collector, but not that high.

I tried contacting him this morning, and got the following response back Sorry, the craigslist email address you tried to contact (sale-xgsu3-2106713446@craigslist.org) belongs to an ad that is no longer active on the site.
Bummer

Also on Craigslist- Chuck Legg has a dozen listed. He runs http://www.discountlaserdisc.com/ If you collect LD's at all- you should stop by his house- 10,000 LD's and 20+ high end players.

Alchemy, thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I don't collect LDs anymore. In fact when I moved to Oregon in 2007, I gave away my player and about 150 to 200 discs. I didn't like how some of them had deteriorated over the years with laser rot. Never had that problem with CEDs. So, I kept my CED collection and dumped my laserdisc collection. I guess I should have sold them on ebay, I had some rare ones from Japan and some rare interactive discs. All of my discs looked brand new, except for any that suffered from laser rot.

I have been collecting CEDs since it began in 1981. The discs I bought back in 1981 still play great today.
