Okay, so I got a Tron videodisc several months ago and have not seen a player anywhere. Someone on Craigslist offered me an RCA SFT100 and 81 movies for $400, but the player has no stylus. I also found on on eBay for cheap, but it also has no stylus.

What should I really pay for it, I think $400 is way too much.

I found one on eBay, but shipping is killer. I think I'll just wait for one to show up at a thrift store like I did with my LaserDisc player.

I have a Hitachi VIP2000 for sale on eBay, number 290487428138 (go to eBay and do a search on this number). I'm asking only $15 plus shipping by UPS Ground (under $20) -- BUT there is already one bid and the auction ends tonight at 9:30 PM EDT (6:30 PM PDT) so if you don't bid on it, it will be gone unless the buyer backs out, which isn't likely at that price.

Please buy it through eBay because I can't take it down, and in any case eBay protects both the buyer and seller in the transaction.

My Hitachi VIP1000 did sell, has been shipped, and UPS says has been delivered. I haven't contacted the buyer yet to ensure that he is happy with the sale. If he returns it my plan is to refurbish it and put it up for $100 or some such, depending on what it is worth. All these things ever need is belts and a cartridge, and it hasn't seen enough use to need a cartridge. CEDMagic sells the belts for $2 each and I can lube the mechanism. If I don't like what I see when I do a photomicrograph of the needle, there is CEDatum to rebuild it. If you want it as-is, let me know and if the buyer is unhappy and I get it back I'll get back to you here.

Jim, Do you believe they won't be happy with it? How do you check the photomicrograph? I have decided that I'm going to read up on these players and learn how to do the belts and the stylus's. I have bought 3 players, one needs the stylus either repaired, cleaned or replaced. John, the guy from CEDautm, says sometimes they can be cleaned and if so, he only charges 8.00 to clean them. I am going to buy an extra stylus for my SGT250. I would appreciate any help!!!!

I got my belts! Does anyone have an advice for the best place to get stylus's? Also, what kind of lube do I use? If I want to send the stylus to CEDatum to see if it can be repaired, Do I Just mail it?

Contact John at CEDatum at: cedatum@ccrtc.com

He can provide you with instructions on shipping your stylus for repair. I understand they do a great job!
