Hello, I am a former owner of the first stero version of an RCA Selct a Vision disc player. I bought it in 1982 brand new and got 4 new movies wailed to me a few weeks after I bought my player. I can't remember what the model number was, but it had a slanted front and a nice remote and, as I said, was stero. I am very interested if finding another one, just because, of all the difernet formats of movies I have collected in my life, CED has been my very favorite! I remember in 1984 I was preparing to upgrade to the 84 model because it had a "page" button that was similar to freeze frame. I have been a lurker here for about a year. If anyone knows where I can find a stero CED player for a reasonable price, let me know! My email is Beetlescott@msn.com

I hate to reply to my own thread, but I just read about the person who just bought a SGT 250 and it is the first player with a wireless remote, and that is the one I had.

Well that is a grat question. Even when I realized RCA was pulling the plug, I wanted to keep my player just for nostalgia, and how much more fun it was to collect these movies than tapes. But, life happened, thats been 4 sons, 8 grandkids, 2 marriages and over 5 moves ago. We all make mistakes, and mine was getting rid of my playsr. When I did sell it, it wasn't working (all the time) You could load a disc, it would take the dics in, and shoot the empty caddy out, but it just sat there, Now that I ahve down so much reading about then, I think it prolly needed a new stylus. Anyway, I am very interested in slowly easing back into this format:)

"Page function" actually just something you can do by holding down the forward and reverse-scan buttons at the same time- don't know if they meant it to do that as the 'interactive' discs were still a couple years away. And this is my favorite machine for many reasons- the one I'm using now I got a couple years ago from an Ebay seller and it was brand-new in the box, never used after being manufactured 23 years ago!

THATS IT! I am dating myself, but I have the wonderful memory of going into an office to renew my license tag for my car. The guy was an RCA dealer, sold TVs and Steros and that kind of thing, the man was pushing this brand new format of movie. I for one was unable to fork over 1200 to 2000 bucks for a VCR (that was as big as the top of our 25" cabintet style TV. So, this guy shows me this sleek new model, the SGT 250 that had just been delivered to his store that week. He showed me several racks crammed full of these "records" that showed movies. He popped in this commercial showing twin blonde girls introducing the newest thing in home video, and it could me mine....for 400 bucks! I walked over to a display that had Star Wars (IV) and in large letters, MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.....TONIGHT! And said it was 39.95 for the first stero disc i had ever seen! I lett the store with a beautiful box that had the SGT 250 in it, and my family went wild! The store, and 2 other stores in town, (small city in N.C.) was also renting the movies. So I took the Stero Commercial disc and a couple of rented movies home with me. A few days later the mailman brought The Ten Commandments and Superman, my free discs for purchasing my special record player that made movies look & sound better than I have ever seen in my life!!! I LOVE IT! I ordered my brand new (to me) refurbished 250 Friday, and it is coming in the mail this week!!!!!
